The incentive that DVC gives for purchasing the min requirement, does anyone have the info on which category it is?

Thank you!

We purchased while on a cruise. We were told that we would have a cabin equivilent to what we werein at that time.

Thanks chefhah, do you remember if it was cat 11, 10, 9?

I am curious about this question also, and exactly WHEN you can cruise. I have been in contact with our"guide"(we are not YET dvc owners) and I am waiting for him to return my call, I will ask these questions when I talk to him.
Are there any other questions you want answers too? After all I am going to talk to him anyway;)

:lmao: Thanks!
My guide told me that the cruise is valid for Fall 2009, Fall 2010 and January 2010 (excluding christmas cruises).
But I forgot to ask about the category... :headache: I have babybrain right now. Usually I'm a little bit more organized than that.
And I'm too embarrassed to call him back... :rotfl:

Thanks for the offer and good luck making your decision!
Can't wait to hear the answer.

All DCL cruises for this promo are Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom (either Category 8 or 9, I don't recall which) - but you can upgrade for a fee.

If anyone can confirm category 8 or 9, please chime in!

I just spoke to our guide, it a cat 9 stateroom. I am seriously considering doing this!:lovestruc

Deluxe Oceanview is a cat 8 or 9. I assumed they would put us in 9 which I don't want because if I recall correctly that is on deck 2.

I will be upgrading to at least a cat 8 because I would rather be on deck 5+

There are several posts that have covered this.....here is one of my posts.
Original booking is a cat 9 ocean view.
I can email you the docs I was sent. I was able to book our 4 day cruise on March 2nd using the voucher. We upgrade to add a 5th person. We are doing the Thanksgiving day cruise. To add the 5th person with the full fair $ and the upgrade for the rest of us was about $1200. We upgraded to a cat 4 family w/ veranda. I was told we would be booked for the late dining and put on a wait list for main dining. I was disappointed with that. My kids are 3/6. 8:30 dinner....not a good mix for anybody involved. I just called and asked about main dining and I got it! Now to find a cheap flight!

We upgraded our 4 night to cat. 6 with 2 adults, 2 kids for $400 total.

Can I ask what the main difference is between the categories/decks? I've only cruised once before, and was with a different company. Is it mainly the deck that you're on (like, some people want to be higher up, or more towards the middle of the ship so there's less rocking)?

Here's a link to the description of the stateroom categories. The voucher covers the oceanview cat. 9, including tips and you pay to upgrage to the staterooms with a verandah.

On the 4-night, we will be able to upgrade to a verandah stateroom for $80 per person. That's a steal at that price!!! :yay:

It's $80 per person on the 3 night and $100 per person on the 4 night.

Oh and I heard from my guide that the voucher is transferable now. So if for some reason you can't use it yourself, someone else can use it instead. That's a flexibility we might need especially with a baby coming in a couple months.

I would use caution in what a guide says about transferring as on the voucher it clearly states it's non-transferable. One of the persons listed on the contract must be on the cabin reservation.

My guide said it's something recent that they changed. He said previously you can't but now you can... :confused3
