Cruise ? for fellow Canadians

I have read that if you have transportation to catch they make sure you are out on time. I thought the 0600 meeting was the customs.

We were on the Wonder in May and yes we met at 6am in the theatre for customs. Off to breakfast and then off of the ship. I think we started off the boat shortly after 8am, however it takes at least half of an hour to find your luggage and leave the terminal. We rented a car from Thrifty in Port Canaveral and I do remember arriving there at about 9 am.

We had to be at Wave Bands for a customs check @ 6am ... but kept our room cards and went back to the room for another hours rest before getting up and off the boat.
Since US citizens don't have to go through customs like we do, they get theirs done at the door before getting off the ship.
And this also means EVERY NON-US person.... we were hoping to leave our daughter alseep and come back to the room but she also had to be present for customs. :o(
This is the only down side of cruisin though!

Bummer, I had no idea about this... glad I happened upon this thread. This happens the last day of your trip, then? I'm surprised they don't have the meeting at a more reasonable time, like the previous night or something. Especially since my wife and I will be taking late seating... so we were planning on sleeping late and staying up late the whole cruise. Ah well. How long does the meeting last?

We just did a 4 night Wonder cruise in September and we had to do the 6:00 AM customs thing in the Walt Disney Theatre. We got there as 5:45 to get in line and there was coffee, juice, and muffins and things on a table. We were about 20th in line and we were back in our room by 6:15 as they started right at 6 and they had 5 and then 6 customs officials. They can not have the "meeting" the night before as they have to be docked so that the customs official can board the ship. You get your passports back before you enter the theatre and you do have to hand in your declaration form and pay any duty if required then and there with cash and then they give you back your form. After you get your luggage you still have to wait in line with all the US residents but they just look at your declaration form and take it and then let you through, well that's what they did for us.

The whole process was not that bad but we did feel tired later in the day so we ended up just relaxing at our resort (GF) and did not go to a park at all till the next day before we left for home.

We went to breakfast (our time was 7:45) and where off the ship at 8:15 and to our car by 8:45 and at downtown disney by 9:45 before everything opened. I suppose you could skip beakfast if you have the late diner seating but in you have the ealry your breakfast would be around 6:45 or 7.

All and all don't worry, but I would just suggest to get there early so that it's all done and then you could be off once they start letting people off the ship.

Good luck and have a magical vacation!!

This is all true but only if Customs Shows Up On Time!

The earlier you get there the less of wait when Customs does show up!

They usually have coffee waiting for you but our last cruise they were late themselves setting it up!LOL But the good news was that Customs was there right on time! We got thru, went and had breakfast, off the ship and in our limo by 8:30 a.m.!

You definately won't be the only one in your jammies!! DS was a write off for the customs check and it really was the only PITA on the whole cruise, but c'est la vie I suppose. I think meeting your towncar for 8am might be pushing a bit - mostly because it takes, I would guess, 15/20 mins to disembark (other could have different experiences). Maybe you can re-schedule your towncar for 8:30am?

We were on the Magic this past January and yup we were up at five so we could clear customs for six...we found that a lot of people didn't show up until after six though and if you are not in a rush then you don't need to be there right on the dot of six. We are going back in March and will still do the same and be there right at six so we can get our passports and be off to breakfast. Have a great trip!!
Houzer :paw:

We were on the Eastern Magic a couple of years ago and we had to clear customs twice in the 7 days...two mornings of waking up at 5:30! Yuk, but yes, its really the only downside of the trip!

What would we have to pay duty to the US for?
