I got a 4 night/ 5 day cruise for $209 Cn for December 1st! This is on the Carnival Imagination just renovated with over 250 million spent on the Imagination fleet. They built water parks on these ships. Going to check into Disney on December 5th....

Cannot not believe the cheap price of cruises! Gosh they are cheaper then hotels and are almost all inclusive!

I booked directly with Carnival Cruises. Called them. I found the cruises off the JetBlue website. I had a question and decided to ask Carnival. They said they would offer that price themselves and give it to me in Canadian dollars! I also got an upgrade for free to upper floor. I booked an inside state room. I didn't think we would spend much time in room but to sleep. So a port hole wasn't important! It is just myself and 11 year old son. He is very excited!

Excited about sailing to key West and then to Cozumel, Mexico. We are going to swim with Dolphins ...a feet push to shore by the dolphins and do dune buggys....

Total cost for two with taxes in was $552.48. I had to put a $150 deposit for each of us. Balance of $252 doesn't need to be paid until October 2008!

Not always unusual to find these kind of deals, especially before the Peak Holiday sailings..and on an older ship. You would be surprised what's out therethat is affordable.
Have fun!

We are first timers too! We are going off season. Maybe why yours was so high? I thought I would begin with a 4 night and if I like that would try a 7 night cruise. What are your dates? You are going a few more places then us.

Any idea when you will book your flight to Miami or have you already booked it? We are also thinking of booking the Carnival 4-nite cruise departing from Miami, but we are reluctant to do so until we see if there are cheap airfares at that time to Miami on Southwest, Jetblue, AirTran (Dec 2008 airfares to Miami are still very high at $500 round trip)

Try flying into Ft. Lauderdale. The transfer are only $24. For me to go to Orlando from Ft. Lauderdale afterwards it
is only $53 with taxes each out of Ft. Lauderdale. Even with the transfer of $24 . The gentlemen I spoke with Carnival said Southwest we could probably get for $39 if we are willing to wait. I am thinking....
The times are better flying into the Fort with both Jetblue and Airtran from Portland,Maine. I think the price is going to be cheaper two. Carnival has shuttles that run steady betweeb Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. They are about 40 minutes apart. Carnival said it was much cheaper flying into/out of Ft. Lauderdale.

Give Ft. Lauderdale a try. BTW what are your dates? That $209 is still available on the starting at $209!

I hope you aren't taing any kids with you Carnival cruise lines are nown as the floating party towns they are primarily singles and young couples out for a partying good time. Some friends of ours went last year with their kids and swore to never go on a Carnival cruise again not even on their own with the kids at home..

She did say she will be bringing her 11 son and I will guarantee they will both enjoy their cruise. I have been on 3 carnival cruises, the last with our 10yr boy and 13 yr daughter. Never a bad experience. The time that she is going their will not be to many 20 something singles that may have given your friends a bad experience. Make sure you sign him up for camp carnival(for kids) so you can each enjoy the cruise. Have fun!!!:thumbsup2 :cool1:

I too have had friends who have gone with children who loved the ship. My son will probably spend much time around the the new waterpark . So, I am sure awy from the "partiers". The Carnival Imagination was just over hauled. There are more for families and the camps for kids has been improved.

Here hoping that the partiers stay in the bars, have a good time and be no bother to families:thumbsup2 No matter where you go, including Disney you find people drinking!

Well good luck I hope it turns out ok for you and your family.

I'v been on 3 carnival cruises and yes you do see those who drink too much but that did not interfere with my vacation.

Remember the drinking age on ship is 21. My daughter was 20 and was carded everytime she went to order a drink.

Off ship the age is 18 or 19. You will see those who come back on board from the all you can drink trips a little to tipsy.

Don't worry you and your son will enjoy youself.

I got the Liberty in Dec 18/06 for $ 399. Cost more for the flight then the 6 day cruise

reason for a high price on ours. we have a balcony 8I (extended balcony)

and also a last minute booking for it. now only if i could find a cheap flight going to tampa. anybody know where i could find one?:lmao:

There are some great deals to be found, it just takes a little looking around. My five year old and I went on a 4 night Royal Caribbean cruise 2 weeks ago. I paid $249 for each of us. I was going to book it out of Miami and I did some searching and found basically the same cruise out of Port Canaveral. Air fares from Miamii/Fort Lauderdale were $275 per person whereas flying into Orlando it was $49 each way. You can rent a car fairly cheap in Florida too. Instead of paying for transfers I rented a car for $24 for the day so we could shop before we returned it to the airport and there was no drop off fee. Also, another thing to keep in mind is to book your excursions on your own rather than through the ship. We did the swim with dolphins for $85 rather than $149 that the ship was charging for the exact same experience.;)

Where did you do your dolphin swim? Was it in Cozumel? I found one dolphin swim cheaper then the cruise. Still not cheap enough!:rotfl:

We were on the Carnival Legend last August for our first cruise - we had the kids along and didn't find that it was too much of a party atmosphere at all. You did have the 'carnival drunks' as my 8yo and 13yo and my 15yo neice called them but they didn't bother us at all! Good service, good food - you have to try the warm chocolate melting cake it was yummm!

We loved cruising so much that we are booked on the Carnival Destiny in 2 weeks :cool1: - 7 day cruise out of San Juan and we have a port every day - St thomas, Barbado's, Dominica, Antigua, St Lucia, St Kitts - spending a few days in San Juan. we are swimming with sea turtles, snorkelling, doing a pirate cruise on one of the ships they used in Pirates of the caribbean movie - kids are so excited about the pirate battle and the fact that they might get to steer the ship and be able to say they were on the ship Cap'n Jack was on and the treasure hunt they will go on when we get to the island!!

Just a warning..... once you've gone on one cruise you will be hooked!!

My son would be so excited to do that pirate cruise! I think we will be hooked too. My son is already talking of doing a longer cruise next year. I ask him if he wanted to try a Disney cruise and he said no....would be too much Disney ! We are spending 2 weeks at WDW after the cruise:rotfl: . Thank you for your reassurance!

Enjoy your cruise!

That's what we did in August - we did the 7 night cruise then a week at Disney after and it really was a dream vacation..... other then the heat but I now know that I will never try to do Disney in the summer again.... even my kids said they didn't want to go in the summer again!

I'll be sure to report about the pirate cruise - sounds 'way cool' according to my 8yo ds who is sitting here reading over my shoulder! pirate: :smickey: paw:
