What time does your cruise leave? I know when I had a land/cruise combo I had to leave really really early in order to land, travel to the port, and get on the boat. It may be that case.

It could also be the fact that they are trying to save some money, after all they are a business.

Three years ago, when my DH and I cruised out of Port Canaveral on an RCL trip, our flights went from Philly to Dulles to MCO. I could have driven to DC in the time it took to board, take off and land. Never mind the layovers.

The plane that we took from Philly to DC was a little puddle-jumper. We sat behind the pilot and my DH could carry on a conversation with him the whole way except the engine noise and vibrations were so loud that we couldn't even hear each other. Our return trip was similar. What a headache!

Why would they do that instead of putting us on a jet that connected in Charlotte, NC or Atlanta? The answer is $$$$$$$. They saved money by inconveniencing us. I vowed that I would NEVER allow a cruise line to book my air passage again. There is NO WAY that I'll ever fly on one of those 2-prop planes again. Thank goodness we did not have the children with us.

I understand your anger and I would certainly try to get it changed before the trip if at all possible. For the $$$$ you are spending, there is no excuse for this kind of treatment.

Book your own flights!

We spent a whole day travelling which should have been a 2 1/2 hour flight!

After this trip, I see Disney in a different light!

PS no flames please!

from reading these boards I know to book my own flights. We decided on a whim to do it the first time because we knew we could save money - We got direct flights, on times we wanted. I feel so bad for all the headaches I hear that go on about cruise lines booking their flights for them. A 3 hour lay over is a bit much - I would call just to see if you can get something a little better -

Don't call cruise line though. You can make changes through the airline even though they are booked by Disney.

I can understand your frustration. I added air to a cruise in December since I booked so late. We flew from BWI to Philadelphia and then sat an hour to board a flight to Miami.

On the return we had a stopover in Charlotte. I am glad that it was my sister and I and no kids.

just book your own flight.you can save up to 300.00$ per ticket.disney charge around 400-500 $ per ticket.

We cruised on Celebrity Cruise Lines 2 years ago and booked the airfare through the cruiseline. What a nightmare. The flight times were ridiculous. I don't remember what the flight times were on the way there but I have a very vivid memory of the one on the way home. We were pushed off the boat at 8:30 a.m. and dumped at the San Juan airport until our 6 p.m. flight. Then we had a connection to catch in the Atlanta airport that left 5 minutes after our plane landed. The connection was in a different building a the other end and I can only imagine what would have happend if our flight had been late getting there as it was we had to run at bread neck speed.

Never, Ever, Ever let the cruiseline book your flight.

Normally we use the cruiselines flights but this time we decided to do what most people do and book our own. More reliable or so I always read. This time we decided to book our own flights. It is with Northwest and we are going first class, we normally fly coach.(That's another story) We were to leave Des Moines at 8:30 AM and fly through Minn. and get in Orlando at 2:30 PM. Now we leave at 6:40 AM !!! fly through Detroit and arrive at 12:55 PM. Go figure. After this experience I don't think it matters, the airlines are going to do what ever they want to do. Kathy

I recieved 'bad' flights on my cruise package in 2001.... I called the air desk and they were able to change them to flying in and out of Melbourne, Florida, which is very close to the Port and a great little airport.

Did you give calling them a thought?

on our last wdw vacation we booked our own flight.from chicago 6 am .we arive in orlando at 9:30 am.on our way back flight from orlando 8:15pm,at chicago 10:30pm.so we had extra 2 days to be in wdw.with ata.

Out of 7 DCL cruises, we only took Disney's air once. We were very lucky apparently because we had early AM flights out of Newark directly into Orlando. We also had direct flights on the way back.

We always book our own air now due to costs reasons....we find it much cheaper to book our own air.

As far as the booking the land/sea package thru DCL....the land portion is ALWAYS done first. I would not mind the 6AM flight but I would hate the layover.....the earlier, the better because you get a full day of vacation (except if you are sitting in some airport)!!!

Of course we booked our own flights. We leaving out of MCO I was told to leave after 12:30pm. Our flight left at 1:08pm. We were at MCO for about 4 hrs. Next time I will have it leave a little sooner then 1:08pm.

How smart can this be. I booked a flight leaving Philly connecting to Chicago then to Orlando.
Duh did I not remember that Philly and Chicago get a lot of snow in February. Oh we are leaving Feb. 22nd.

To the girl who was on the puddle jumper from Philly to Dulles we will be on the same plane buy coming home that way.

You really had me laughing about that. You would have to know my husband because he is so fasinated with airplanes he will probably try to set in the seat next to the pilot.

Ok Guys need some imput especially ones from Chicago. We will ge in at 12.55am if everything goes off on time and no snow.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

My DW Shirley 38 is right. We head northwest to go south. This was the least expensive fare we could find. Philly to Chicago Ohare to McCoy in Orlando. You should see what that flight is costing now $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Mad4themouse ; we have the same flight coming home. Orlando to Dulles into Philly. Changing to the same commuter aircraft. that you were on.

As long as we arrive on time, it really doesn't bother me.

At 62 I just started taking flying lessons.

At one time I was a major white knuckler on airplanes. About 15 to 20 years ago, I got involved in Flight simulation, on my computer. Have every version of Microsoft Flight Simulator made.
Now I love to fly.
