Does anyone know what the kids should wear for dinner on 4-night cruise? I have three boys, 6, 4 and 4. Do they need long pants or can they wear nice shorts? Thaks for the help!!! We are going 8/28/05. :wizard:

I have my boys wear zip offs, they wearing long pants to dinner but can still make them shorts.. They wear long pants ( zip offs) and a polo shirt at dinner..

For that age, I don't think anyone would object to nice shorts. For "little" boys, I'm in favor of making sure they're comfortable. The zip offs sound like a nice idea though since the dining rooms can be chilly.

Definitely DON'T buy long pants just for the cruise, especially on the Wonder which doesn't have a formal or semi-formal night. Since I believe the adults are now permitted to wear nice jeans, I think that would be fine for the little ones also.

"nice Jeans" can be a dangerous word. My Nephew just spent 60 bucks on some "nice jeans" at American Eagle for school. They were loaded with holes and frays (sp) and were supposed to look that way. They are for school also! :earseek:

Young boys are fine in shorts. Of course, we all know that they have "good" shorts and "play in the mud" shorts. Make them comfortable but nice looking, and you'll have a much more pleasant dinner than if they had been stuffed in their "icky dinner clothes." The dress code is "suggested," not enforced in any way. No one will think less of young ones in comfortable clothes. I've even seen very young children in PJs at dinner--and they usually fell asleep in the stroller.

Great info to know and I am now rest assured that our 6 yo in nice shorts with a tropical button down won't be bounced from the dining rooms! What about your take on footware for little boys with such an outfit? :confused3

Dis Nurse, footwear for 6 yo is anything that you can get to stay on their feet!!! :rotfl2:

I think sandals (Teva type) or tennis shoes would work fine. I don't see ANY reason to pack extra shoes just to wear to dinner.

Your servers are NOT the fashion police and any other guest who has a problem with what a six year old is wearing is really NOT enjoying their cruise to the fullest.

In my experience, a lot more notice is given to what should be worn to what activity here on the boards than on the ship.
