I know DCL doesn't go there (yet). Has anyone done a trip down under and is a cruise a good way to see parts of it? If you have done a cruise, what line and would you recommend it for kids?
We are looking at a family trip and this is on the short list.

In my opinion, experiencing Australia overland is better than a cruise. It's a great family destination too and SO easy. Quantas usually offers a walkabout special for international travelers that allows you to hop around on one-leg trips so you can cover a lot of different areas for a fair price.

I think the cruises in that region of the world tend to be very short, such as between Brisbane and Sydney or traveling down t Tasmania, or very long and include South POacrific island areas. To really see Australia, I agree that a land-based trip is your best option.

I did the Adventures by Disney tour of Australia and loved it. I never even considered doing a cruise since Disney doesn't cruise there, and I was interested in a land based tour. Some of my favorite memories from that trip are from the time we spent inland at Uluru, so I'm glad I did the trip the way I did through ABD. But I think there are some land and sea itineraries on other lines that might be worthwhile if it's something you want to do.
