CRT: Worth it?

Okay, sure, anything is worth it to the kids ... but ... here's our scenario....

I just booked the only available table for CRT for our vacation. We are NOT breakfast people. We aren't even morning people. We hadn't planned on being awake at 8AM, let alone, inside a park.

Would CRT be worth it considering we probably won't eat much (we'd all just pick at our food)? According to a website (which prices may change, yeah-yeah), it will cost our family $156.56 just for breakfast. We are on the DDP. This sounds like a really expensive breakfast to me.

I'm not too worried about meeting any characters for the kids, as we'll make sure their favorite characters get met somewhere, somehow.

So is it worth it? Should we use our DDP credits or pay out of pocket?

I wouldn't be asking if this was a lunch or dinner reservation ... just seems a bit steep for no more than what you get (since the portrait package is "complimentary") at breakfast.

Based on your ticker, it looks like you are going in a few weeks, so you are looking at close to $50.00/adult and approx. $28.00/child for breakfast. We absolutely do not think this is worth it for toast and eggs, yet many people do. Since you are doing DP, you will be subject to using 2 credits for this experience - we don't think hardly any Signatures are worth 2 credits, let alone this one for breakfast, so keep that in mind.

Conversely, you will pay approx $55.00/adult and a little close to $30.00/child for dinner, which is far better food. All princesses are now at dinner - we just ate there 3 weeks ago, and are eating again in July as we greatly enjoyed it. All meals get potrait package and swords/wands for kids.

You can check prices online by making a pretend ADR as this is a full payment restaurant, so it will show you the actual prices before you are to actually book it, as long as there is an ADR available. Since you are going in a few weeks, this might not work, but you could give it a try, or, just call for the actual price. All Ears and WDWinfo both have incorrect prices all over their websites, so best to get it from the source. If you are looking for any other meals, I would use Disney's actual website, as they update menus regularly (unfortunately, they still don't have kids' menus posted, sometimes buffet prices are an issue, but for the most part, they have a great selection of menus available that are current and up to date), and just did so in Feb.

Good luck, Tiger :)

I would definitely just wait until your next trip to go. If you guys are not morning people, then you won't even be able to fully enjoy the experience. It's a long shot, but you can check when you are there to see if anyone has cancelled. Lunch or dinner may be better for your family.

I agree with the others that if you are able to get dinner reservations, try for that. The characters are at lunch and dinner now and the dinner 2 weeks ago was really yummy. We were on the dining plan and just didn't eat a table service meal the first day there. It worked out well for us since we arrived at noon on the first day.

It sounds to me like you should cancel this reservation. You had nothing positive to say about it. So canel the reservation and plan it for next trip.

I on the other hand would LOVE that reservation. Assuming the reservation is for 8AM, you'll be in the park before the crowds. I love the magic of that. I also did eat there and truly enjoyed it. I thought the princess interaction was great. I really liked the food. I went without kids and loved watching all the little princesses dressed up to meet the "real" princesses.

We did the breakfast a few years ago and just weren't that impressed.

I have a couple of questions that someone might know...

1.) what time do they start serving dinner?
2.) is Cinderella in the foyer for pictures for dinner? I thought in the past that was only at breakfast.

THANKS for your help!

I don't think it's worth it for breakfast especially if you aren't breakfast people. I actually went back and forth on if we should do CRT or not. I booked lunch and then cancelled and booked Akershus instead. And then, my dad who's coming with us let me know he preferred CRT's dinner menu so I booked CRT dinner and cancelled Akershus :). Being worth it is subjective. If my DD's face lights up and she has a great time, then it will be worth it to me. For comparison, it's costing us $143.12 for the 3 of us and $109.52 for my dad and step-mom.

Alot of it depends on the age of your kids. Eating in the castle is magical for kids. Also, yes, you can meet the princesses out in the parks but the wait lines are awful so you will be saving an hour or two by meeting them during your meal. I do agree that breakfast is the least bang for your buck and by the sound of it you don't like breakfast under any circumstance so lunch or dinner may be better for you. ADRs have to be cancelled 48 hours prior to the ADR or you get charged so often you can stumble on a newly cancelled ADR if you call back or check online.

I thought it was only breakfast too, but I have a friend who just went for spring break. They went for dinner (4 adults) and saw Cinderella. She liked the "sparkly" new engagement ring on one of the girls in the group. Dinner probably starts anywhere between 3 and 5.

Cinderella is always downstairs for pictures, and a free portrait package is given out during the meal. As of a few weeks ago for dinner, the other princesses are now in attendance, but Cinderella never goes upstairs to tables during meals. Previously, it was only breakfast and lunch with princesses in attendance during meal. Nothing has changed with Cinderella as all meals are still same process: check-in at podium, get called in for photo with Cindy, get invited to go upstairs and start your meal!

HTH, Tiger :)

I'm ATTEMPTING to snag this ADR ONLY for my beloved niece.:littleangel: I've heard the food is SO-SO. However, there will be 7 of us girls, so for one night, we get to all be a Princess and dine in the castle:wizard:. I am quite sure, this will be my ONE and ONLY time doing this. Up till now, I've never been interested. BTW, my 2 DD's 21 & almost 15 are actually excited about it! Just goes to show, you never out grow it! ;)

DH and I don't think it's worth it for breakfast, but we do think it's worth it for lunch - when we'll always go now. Still, it's a lot of money.

WOOHOO! I was able to snag a dinner reservation this morning, so it no longer matters if breakfast is worth it. I'll have to change some plans around to make us available to visit MK on a different day, but it will be worth it for the kids! :cool1::cool1:

Great! I wish you a magical dinner, Tiger :)
