CRT- What should we do?

I have 8 people in my party. 2 little girls that would enjoy CRT everyone else could care less but don't think they will survive in the park without me. I'm a control freak and they are my minions So I made a reservation for 2 so I could have a special meal w/ my youngest and my other daughter said she didn't care. Now she does so I called to see if I could get a res for 3 but they only had 6 on the same day at the same time. Which would seem perfect. Now I have all 8 (two diff res). But I really don't want to spend that much money. I was o.k. paying for the two of us but 6 is a lot (my mom and step dad are paying for themselves). I'm thinking about just cancelling all together and having the girls do the Tea party, my son do the pirate thing, my oldest teen do lunch w/ an imagineer, and I can get a much needed Drink! Thoughts? Or we could just use the same ammount of money to go to the Kennedy space center or swim with the Manatees. Opinions.

I would say it's definitely worth doing at least once. But if you have a group of people who don't really care about going it is a lot of money you could spend somewhere else. We never did the tea party so I'm not sure about doing that. I personally would do CRT every time we go if we could get in! But for those who don't care about eating there and the whole experience, they are better off doing something else and saving the money...

Just my 2 cents-we just got back and did CRT. While it was great and the food was wonderful, if your DD are expecting to see princesses, they will not like it. We only saw Cinderella at the beginning before we went up for dinner and then the 2 female mice and Fairy Godmother put on a show, but they don't stop to interact or give autographs. We happened to have a very late ressie and got to watch Wishes from inside the castle, which was kind of cool for something different.

If you want Princesses, I would opt for the Princess meal at Norway in Epcot, there are usually 4-5 of them there and they come around to your table and interact, take pictures, sign autographs, etc. Plus it's probably about 1/2 the price of CRT. Friends of ours also went to the meal (I think at the Grand Floridian) where there was the step mother and step sisters along with Cindy and the Prince.

Just some other options.

well, that's the way it is for dinner, the other meals have princesses visiting your tables...

Your split up ideas sound GREAT and your family members would feel very special to be doing those special events.....I would go with the alternates IF they really wanna do those....or maybe you could split 2 off and have your 6 go to the castle and the other 2 do something they would like better......I know that doesn't help much, but if it were me, I would want to maximize the special-ness for the members of my fam and treat them to something they REALLY wanna do....

Actually this is partly correct. This only applies to dinner at CRT. If you have ressies for breakfast or lunch at CRT you will meet Cinderella downstairs for a picture before going upstairs to the dining room. There Snow White, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty and Belle all come by your table to sign autographs and pose for a picture or two. My DD of 4 really looks forward to this. And my DW looks forward to the Pomodores Pie!! As far as the cost I think that is up to the individual. Nothing in WDW is cheap by any means.

CRT was definitely the highlight for us. I also think its worth doing once.

I missed the ages of your children.....that would be a factor.

This is a must do for us, not only for my girls (ages 4 and 8), but even for my DH. We love the castle, it is alot of $$, but it is worth doing at least once. It's our big splurge. A few years ago, we took my parents and they loved it too (this is probably the only time that the grandparents would do such a thing), it was a special family event. I would definately miss it, if we didn't do it.

But, for some, 1 hour w/ the princesses is not worth the price. You will find mixed opinions here about the castle. My vote is, take them while they are young....maybe the next trip they will be too old and too cool?

My kids are DD 13, DD 8, DS 7, DD 6.
I think it is such a big deal in leaving everyone to take 1 kids is because it is on our 1st day. I wish I could get a res on our 3 or 4th day. Then they would be more than happy to have 2hrs away from control freak mom. I can't decide. Looking at the menu lunch seems like a better deal. I guess I'll just keep calling. Anyone have CRT Lunch for 3/7-3/9 for 2 or 3 to trade for CRT 3/5 10:00am 2 and 6 pp. maybe?
