CRT table for 3

I was trying to book online reservations for CRT breakfast this morning. We are a party of 3. There was no availablity for a party of 3 but plenty availablity for a party of 4. Can I just book a table for 4 even though there are only 3 of us? If so, how can I book this without being charged for an extra person???

I had this happen to me last year. I just went ahead and booked the reservation for 4 people and was willing to absorb the cost of the extra person because we really wanted the reservation. That being said, I called a few weeks later to add a celebration or something and I mentioned in the conversation that there was only going to be 3 of us. The CM put me on hold and apparently spoke to a supervisor and took 1 person off our reservation and refunded my card. It was totally unexpected and very nice of her. I didn't ask, nor would I it was just a nice thing for her to do.

No flames please!

I have seen quite a few people on the DIS ask this question before and you are going to get answers from both sides. Here are the points I have seen mentioned in these discussions:

1- As a party of 3 you will be seated at a table for 4 anyway, so do it and enjoy.

2- You will have to pay up front for 4 people (unless you are using the DDP) and you will be reimburssed the day of for whoever didn't "show up".

3- You should only make a reservation for the number of people you really have coming and if they don't have room for you, you should find somewhere else to go because that means a family of four won't get to go.

My take on this is go ahead and do it. You are using the same size table that you would be using if they had an opening for 3, so that doesn't make any difference. And you aren't adding people, so that doesn't throw off their fire code numbers or anything.

Thank you for the advice. I don't want to do anything dishonest. But, I really don't want to have to pay for a person who is not there if I go ahead and book a table for 4. Maybe we will try the princess breakfast at Epcot instead.

I do think every little girl should eat in the Castle, at least once. Having said that, we really enjoy the princess breakfast at Epcot. The food is much better than that at the Castle, and the characters were really into spending time with the kids. Plus, we actually saw Cinderella there this past October.:goodvibes

It is a tough choice, but you won't go wrong by doing the breakfast in Epcot.

Book it for 4, but make your 4th person an infant. That way there will be no charge. Tables for odd numbers can be hard to come by in the WDW ADR system. I actually had a CM strongly "suggest" that I come up with an "extra person" for certain ADRs where we couldn't get a table for our party size, also noting that children under 3 were free, so there would be no cost if one that age didn't show up. We suddenly grew an imaginary infant for certain meals and the CM happily scheduled the ADRs we wanted. We did it for the trip where the CM suggested it last year, and then again for our trip this December for an ADR we had trouble getting. We had no trouble at the restaurants when we showed up without the "infant".
