My family and I had dinner last night 03/16 and I have to say to me it was just ok. However it was worth worth seeing my daughters eyes lift up when the princesses came around and took pictures. Id say it's a once a lifetime thing especially if you have a little girl but no way I'm spending almost $300 for a family of 4 next time. Lol. The food was ok but I actually had a better meal at San Angel Inn. Just wanted to let everyone know.

This is what's kept us away from CRT (well, that and the unavailability of reservations when I start planning 4-5 months ahead of time! :o) I know that the food is fine and you're really paying for the experience of eating in the castle and the characters.

We opted to go to Akershus last year instead and loved it. Good food; five favorite princesses; and much less expensive. Yes, I know, the two are just not comparable, but for my money, our Akershus experience was perfect.

Is the San Angel Inn located in the heart of the Magic Kingdom, inside a pretty castle, with princesses to come say hello to the kids & take pictures? Just wondering, because that is why a meal at CRT costs more than it otherwise would. The food at CRT is fine, but not the main attraction, which is typical at WDW character meals.

Yea I hear you. Definitely paying the premium for the princess experience. As I said its def nice to try it at least once.

I know you are talking about dinner, but we did breakfast there in November and never again. Akershus was a much better experience for breakfast, food and service. I never felt so rushed at a disney restaurant before, until we went to CRT. For the amount of money it costs to eat there, the portions were small, and we were never asked if we wanted more. The princesses came around so fast and they gave us our check before we even finished. Our money or dining credits will be better spent at Akershus, where we actually love the food and enjoy our food without being rushed and the princesses actually take their time at each table.

Thanks for your review!

We had lunch at CRT last year and yes, it was definitely rushed. They all but pushed you out of your chair, but the food was an unexpected surprise. We were really pleased. It was the 2nd best meal I had. I realize most places at Disney are hit or miss but wanted to say that it can be really good.

We are trying Akershaus this year too so it's good to hear that people really like it.

I'm real excited for Akershus! I just looked at CRT dates for the day we're going to MK and I still can't believe that there are so many time slots available. Welp.

I hear you... We had breakfast at CRT last Sunday and it was a disappointment. Our reservation was for 950am. We sat downstairs after taking a picture until 1045. Once we were seated, it was very rushed. The food was terrible- maybe because we were at the end of breakfast service? It's worth experiencing but we won't be going back anytime soon.

We agree - a one time place for us. We paid $700 for our family of 7 for dinner and it was awful (3 of our party couldn't even eat their meal - way to salty). Our server wasn't nice and we were also rushed all the way through. We were out in less than an hour. It was nice to see the inside of the castle but at those prices the food should be better. We love Akershus.

We've done CRT for breakfast each trip and will be going again in September. It's become tradition for us. But we are a family of 4...if I had to pay $700 for bacon and eggs I think I'd have a stroke!!

What was so upsetting was that after spending $700 our kids were still hungry. Maybe we will try breakfast.

I see you are celebrating a surprise sweet 16. We are going this summer to celebrate a surprise 21st birthday. It is so much fun planning. We just surprised her and told her we were going but nothing else. We told her to delete the app so she doesn't see anything. I hate that we had to tell her but if she went on the app (which she loves to do) she would have seen the reservations.

How are you surprising your daughter?

Yes! The planning is sooooo fun BUT usually my kids are who I talk to about all of our Disney plans and now I have to keep it a secret for the next 6 months!! I'm dying to tell them!! But the plan right now is that I am telling them that we are going to take a long weekend to celebrate her birthday close to home. I even have her researching resorts and fun things near us that she would be interested in. That way when I start packing they won't get suspicious. (Thankfully neither of my girls have the app!). On the morning of our flight I'm going to get her up to go to "school" and let her open an early birthday gift. MagicBands!!! I booked our trip for 5nights/6 days at the Poly. They have always wanted to stay there but I'm so in love with the GF she will never guess that I would go back to WDW and not stay there. I've even said as much and I've also said many times over the years that we would never go the summer or September because of the heat so I'm thinking I've probably got her convinced there's no way lol! So I'm not going to tell them that we are staying longer than the weekend or that we are staying at the Poly either...they will find out when we pull up to the gate and check in. I have also booked CRT for the morning of her actual birthday and I'm trying to finalize dinner plans now. If you are flying in, have you thought about getting a limo to pick you up from the airport? One way airport transfers aren't super expensive and getting off the plane, grabbing your bag and going straight to your limo is a super fun and memorable way to start your celebration. Not mention much quicker than DME.

That is so exciting. I wish we could have surprised my DD. My other DDs are helping me so we get to talk about it. We are staying at the Contemporary - she loves that she can walk to MK - but has no idea that we would stay there.

We are probably driving to DW. But the limo would be a great idea. Enjoy the planning.

We've had breakfast at Akershus twice and loved the food & experience (& the price compared to CRT!). We've avoided CRT because we've heard the negatives that have been mentioned in this thread - the food quality isn't that great & you're rushed - but we're considering trying it this year for the experience of dining in THE castle. DD is 8 & has said that she's getting too old for "the princess stuff" but she LOVES the castle so I'm going to try for an ADR for our Oct trip. Going in with low expectations for food quality & prepared to insist on not being rushed through the meal.

It was a one and done experience for us, too. Meal was rushed and timing of delivery was not good (breakfast), price is high, princess interaction was the worst we've had, service was not good (waiter was unfriendly and I couldn't get my water refilled!), and food was just okay - and definitely not abundant. I'm still glad we did it once so the little princess in our family can say she did it, but we won't be back. Better ways at Disney to spend that much money on a meal. Might hit Akershus again though - that was definitely a better experience.

We were never impressed with dinner there, but did lunch there last trip and were pleasantly surprised by our meals. The last two dinners at Akershus were horrible so we're going to try breakfast there next trip.

We have done both breakfast and dinner several times with our kids and alone as a couple. I've always had surprisingly good meals for both. Got the chicken for dinner last time and it was excellent.
