Ack! I was all excited this morning, because I found an 8:10am reservation for CRT, but it appears that since I made the reservation online it charged my card:confused3....DH is gonna kill me because we're using the Dining Plan for it.

If I call Disney Dining, will they switch it to a CC guarantee and refund the money?

Sheesh....in all the years I've been going to Disney, this is the first time I've tried to eat in the castle, I got extremely lucky and found a reservation for the time I wanted.....and then I mess up the details. Sigh.

There's a known issue with CRT and other pre-paid locations when booking online. As you have noticed, they sometimes do not pick up the dining plan from your resort confirmation (assuming you properly associated it on the CRT page).

To remedy this, you can either:
  1. Keep your current booking and charge, and then pay with Dining Plan when you eat. They will refund your credit card at that time (easiest)
  2. If that's not an option, you can call to attempt to have it refunded early. However, 9 times out of 10 this is done by canceling your current one and rebooking. This could lead to losing out on your current time slot.
Very rarely (like even more rare that the upgrades from POP to GF CL, ok, maybe not quite that rare, but you get the idea), a CM may be able to give the refund while keeping your current reservation. I wouldn't count on this though.

I agree with Cafeen's response. She gave you great information!

The easiest thing really is to just let it ride and ask for a refund to your credit card once you pay for the meal that day with DDP points.

It's funny, this site is backwards from most of the stuff I do online (or is most of the stuff I do backwards? hm). Over here, most of us (myself include) assume female unless otherwise "proven". Other places (mostly gaming sites and such) is male unless otherwise "proven". Just an entertaining point ;).

And just to add even more, this is a very common situation and the restaurant staff should have absolutely no problem in doing this for you.

The same thing happened to me this week. I had Disney on the phone trying to help me out. The CM had me finish the reservation online and my credit card was charged. She suggested I call back and the next CM was able to connect the CRT ressie with our package. It took a little while and she needed to get a supervisor to help out but they were wonderful. They gave me the same reservation but had to change my reservation number. I would suggest not to wait. Especially if you will not pay it off right away and be charged interest. (This would have happened to me). Good luck and have a great trip.

It's good to know that it is possible to have this done successfully. It's just so aggravating....before I made the reservation, I made sure that I logged in with my room reservation, so that the dining plan would be associated with it. Given the popularity of CRT, you'd think they'd have fixed this system bug by now.:headache:

So is it just easier to make ressies for CRT over the phone then? I can make our ressies in late November and hoping for a Bfast AND dinner res and we're on DxDP. Was debating on using the online booking as opposed to calling in for the ressies.

I am having this same problem trying to book Disney's Spirit of Aloha dinner show. It won't take the DxDP credits.

When you book over the phone and want to use your credits, how much dothey charge your card?

If they associated your resort reservation (that includes an applicable dining plan), there will be no charge at time of booking. You may see a $1 charge pop up, but it will go away in a couple of days. This $1 charge is used to validate the CC that is given. (It doesn't show for everyone, it depends on a lot of factors including what bank and all that).

If your card is charged the full value of the meal, it's best to call Disney Dining immediately to rectify it. Alternatively, you can follow the two options that I outlined above in response to the OP.

I found out you do have to call if using DDP credits. When I looked online to book CRT, I went all the way to the payment screen thinking there might be a place to put in for the DDP, but there wasn't (as you found out). When I called to book, the CM told me it was a good thing I called because they have to put in a special code to use DDP credits, otherwise my cc would get charged the entire amount. She took my cc as a guarantee and that will be charged if I don't show up and/or don't cancel. I would call and see if there is still the date/time available that you want and if so, rebook it with the CM over the phone and then have him/her cancel the one you booked online and were charged for. Good luck and I hope it all works out :wizard:.

There's noplace on the online reservation system to designate that you are on DDP.

The only way to do this is to associate your resort reservation that has a dining plan attached to it, with your restaurant reservations. There is a method by which you can enter your resort reservation number when you book restaurant reservations online.

Unfortunately, the system does not always pick up that a dining plan is associated with the room reservation, so you're better off calling for CRT or dinner shows (prepaid reservations) if you don't want to prepay them in full and switch to dining credit payment when you arrive.
