CRT on MVMCP night?

We have a CRT ADR for 12/14 at 7pm. Right now we do not have tickets to the party that night. We are attending the party on 12/10. Does anyone have any hands on experience (not what the CM says on the WDW-Dine phone line)? I do not want to be turned away. I am thinking I will show up about 15-30 min. early. When we booked we were not asked if we had tickets to the party that night. That is something I have read here on the DIS. How can they turn us away with a PREPAID reservation? I have no intention of staying in the park after we eat. I wouldn't even care if they made someone walk us out, after we eat.

Hi!! You'll be fine, as long as you're through the park turnstyles before they begin turning regular day guests away at 7pm. Typically CRT will check in their last seating reservations early (15 min or so, sometimes earlier, depending on the wait). As long as you are at the restaurant by your reservation time, CRT will not turn a guest with a reservation away. In any event, do not show up late!

You'll be able to take your time inside, nobody will rush you out to leave the park. When your family is finished eating and ready to go, someone WILL walk you to the front of the park (and it's awesome that you expect it and don't care, believe me ).

So glad to hear this!! I was a little worried.
We are considering a second night at MVMCP depending on how our first night goes. If we see everything we want to the first night and the kids don't think they want to do it again then we won't stay. If we are going to go again we will buy our tickets before we go in so it won't be an issue.

Actually there are different reports.

PP's post is one scenario, however another is that you will be turned away if you don't have party tickets.
During MVMCP when making ressies over the phone it is reported that CMs ask if you are attending the party when making a ressie this close to party time. If you do they go ahead and make the adr, if not then they tell you you must purchase tickets for the party in order to stay to eat.

Even though it is a prepaid meal they can turn you away.

So you can chance it and keep everything the way it is and hope PP is correct or try and reschedule the party or the adr.

Personally I wouldn't risk it, heard to many stories of people being turned away because their adr was during the party and they didn't have a ticket.

I made my ADR online and no where did it state that I would have to have tickets to the party. Only that park admission is required. We will already be in the park prior to the party. I think this is a very grey area and it needs to be clarified much better by Disney. What about those of us who booked our reservation at 108 days out before the party dates were even announced?

At 7:00 pm valid park admission would be a Party Ticket. I would hope that if you just show up early you would not have any problems at all. I have heard reports of people having problems with ADRs during the party, but not for any of the pre-paid meals. If it were me, I think I would just be very early to dinner. We were at the Party on November 19th and I think around 6:30 CMs starting asking people if they had their wristbands for the party.

Unfortunately they won't refund you then. For any reason if you do not show or are turned away they WILL charge you. Just a warning, CRT has a timeframe as to when you can cancel or be charged. I think it is either 24 or 48 hours.
It states that in the refund policy. You may want to check that out before you go.
I know you wouldn't want a scene on your vacation, it would put a damper on it. Best to head it off now.

And if you are thinking this all may happen, having somewhere else planned to eat would be a good idea.

We would not be a "no-show" as we showed up for the reservation. If they should choose to not allow us to dine there I would expect a full refund. I showed up for the reservation. That would be like if you showed up for a reservation outside of WDW and they said "I'm sorry, our restaurant is full. But, even though you can't eat here, we are going to charge you anyway for the meal you would have had."

If you show up early (as you stated you intend to), you won't have any problem. It amazes me how many doom-sayers there are on this board who constantly predict that Disney and its CMs are out to screw over the guests, cheating and frustrating them at every turn. To the contrary, Disney, more so than any other company I can think of, goes out of its way to accomodate its guests. I can not imagine a scenario where Disney Legal would approve a procedure whereby they take your money for a prepaid reservation, and then don't let you eat once you show up early, or on time. For your ADR, park admission is required. You will have that. Also, they advise that you show up 20 minutes early for your reservation. That means they expect you to be there at 6:40. At 6:40, you do not need any special admission ticket to be in the Park. When dinner is over, they will walk you out. Case closed.

Goodness, not trying to "doomsday" anyone or anything. Just being honest with the experiences I have had and been exposed to.
Just passing along info to OP so they can make an educated decision on their vacation.
I would hope someone would do the same for me.

I have been on a wonderful vacation and had something go wrong and you get upset, it DOES affect your whole vacation. May not ruin it, but does affect it.

I agree that Disney is the best place to bend over backwards to accomadate people, BUT that only goes so far. Just saying.

OP.....didn't mean to upset you as said above, just trying to give you all the info I have on the matter. You don't have to proove anything to me, I will be happy if you get to do your adr, if you don't really isn't going to affect me.

So do what you want, take the risk, don't take the risk.

I also think you will be fine if you show up @ the restaurant by 6:40, but it's still a chance I might not be willing to take. However, there were numerous reports this year of CMs on the dining phone line telling people they could not book reservations on party nights beyond much earlier times (like 6 PM) if they didn't have party tickets. I'm sure a lot of that was overzealous CMs, BUT a 7 PM reservation would require a party ticket. 6:55 no, 7 PM yes.

I'm getting off track now because what I really wanted to say was -- you would be charged if you did not cancel in the cancellation window and did not show up at the restaurant - whether that's because you don't have a party ticket and can't enter the park or because the park closes due to crowds or whatever. There are no refunds for those reasons, no matter how you might look at it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we had absolutely no problems what so ever. We arrived at 6:50pm for our 7pm ADR. While making our way through the park to our ADR we were not asked one time if we had bracelets. We were not even questioned when we arrived at the podium. We didn't leave CRT until 9:15pm. We were escorted to the hub by a CRT CM and then told to head on to the front of the park to exit. We were never stopped for a bracelet once.
