We’ve never done CRT because in the past we would grab a PPO at Akershus to fill the princess need and jump on FEA and we’d use BOG to fill the castle need because we loved the old dinner there. Since dinner has changed at BOG we aren’t too interested in doing that this year and my 7 year old daughter mentioned she’d like to eat in Cinderella’s castle this time. Do you all prefer PPO breakfast or a dinner at CRT? And would you still do PPO at Akershus if doing CRT? I also looked at Bon Voyage breakfast but I don’t think we want to be on princess overload either.

I love PPO Akershus for exactly the reason you mentioned, and I actually like the breakfast offerings. I love walking through an empty WS to get there, even if nothing is open at the time. But it's a ridiculous out of pocket expense, in my opinion - if you are on the dining plan, it's one of the best uses of a credit but not really worth it otherwise.

We are renting DVC points so no dining plan - all our meals are out of pocket.

Your princess years are almost over. Go for overload. :)

You are so right! Time goes so fast

We’re huge fans or CRT and not of Arkershus so it would be an easy pick for us. I’d don’t think you can gonweong doing both ;) especially if you’re skipping BOG

Yes, go for overload. You can eat at a non Princess venue when you are at home. This is your chance....take it!

As for which meal....Im a breakfast girl and that wont change, so youll always hear breakfast from me. Look at the dinner menu and see if anything is appealing to you. The options are fairly limited and none did the trick for me or my daughter. We did go for dinner once, but mostly because we were tired of going there for breakfast, but couldnt NOT go to the castle during a Disney trip! IMO it was pretty gross, but Im sure others LOVED it.

My dinner - disgusting. Pink pork YUCK.

Hubbys dinner...he'll eat anything, and did!!

Daughters dinner. They gave her extra chicken because she was on the adult dining plan. We didnt ask for it, but most restaurants tend do do that when youre using an adult meal credit for a kids meal. She only ate about 2 - 3.

We have always liked the dinner food at Akershus better than CRT. That being said, CRT is more about the experience of eating inside the castle. I'd just find the menu that appeals to you most and choose that one. You might be disappointed in all of them when you factor in cost of eating in the castle vs what you're actually eating but remind yourself that you're paying for an experience and your child is in heaven. And that will get you through. LOL

Thanks! Do you prefer dinner or breakfast at CRT?

Dinner for sure! But mostly because we enjoy rope drop and breaking up our day with lunch/dinner so tend to skip TS breakfasts - that said you can’t go wrong with CRT breakfast!

We did the breakfast back in 2009 ( OMG, is that really 10 years ago?!? ) We enjoyed it a lot and it was a nice kick off to the day. At the time, there were only 3 or 4 choices for the breakfast, which all of us found something we enjoyed. The princess interaction was great. They all came to the table and spent some time with the kids ( we had 2 in the party at that time ). At that time, they were offering photos with Cinderella ( which they still do ) when you arrive. She does not walk around the restaurant. We also saw Jasmine, Ariel and Aurora.

We've never been to CRT for breakfast, but loved our dinner there. Based on others' reports that the food wasn't very good or plentiful, I had prepared my group not to have huge expectations. We were very surprised by how great everything was. The soup of the day was tomato and it was delicious. Others in the group enjoyed the castle salad and said it was fresh. The vegetarian entree was surprisingly full of flavor. The beef and shrimp entree was rated highly by the rest of the group. They said the steak could be cut with a fork. The princesses were all very sweet. Our server was absolutely fantastic. He timed everything perfectly so we could make it out just in time for the fireworks, and ribbed my mom (in a fun way) throughout the meal. She loved every bit of it. When she asked what the Pearl onions were in her salad, he made up some elaborate ruse about the Fairy Godmother sprinkling magic on Cinderella's garden to create a new vegetable. He even brought her a place mat at the end that was signed by the princesses. It's definitely on our list for our next trip. DD7 rated it her favorite restaurant.

Honestly I don't like the menu at either CRT or BOG at this time, so I would say neither one, such a shame they killed the menus at both.

I agree however my 17 year old DD planned out our meals (this trip we are celebrating her high school graduation) and we are doing PPO CRT and Akershus, plus a PPO BOG and doing the new pre fix meal for dinner at BOG (on 2 separate days), and she is very excited about trying the new princess breakfast at Trattoria Al Forno mainly because both Flynn Ryder and Rapunzel are there. I did ask her if she thought that it is too many princess meals in one trip and her response is that there is never too much princess meals....luckily we are going to be on the DxDP :rotfl:.

My kids (then 4 & 6) left CRT breakfast hungry. The portions were incredibly small.

OMG....... I was just about to tell you that CRT breakfast is AYCTE. They refill your family style meal until you ask them to stop, but before I hit post reply, I looked it up just to make sure and saw they changed their menu. Ughhh.. I have a breakfast ressie there in August. Im going to change it. Nothing looks good to me.

OK....now I just went to all ears and see a slightly different menu for breakfast. Looks a little better, but Im not sure which one is real. I certainly dont want beef tenderloin and eggs, goat cheese quiche or shrimp and grits for breakfast.

We just did dinner at CRT last week and really enjoyed it. We haven't been to CRT in 11 years, so it was actually better than I remembered, lol. It was a trip without our oldest daughter, so we decided to take the younger one who doesn't remember eating there when she was 4. We thought all the food tasted great.

DD14 had the Castle Salad, Pan Seared All Natural Chicken (without the madeira mushroom sauce), and the Jaq and Gus (amaretto cheesecake.)

DH had the Charcuterie, Chef's Fish of the Day (salmon with spaetzle), and the Clock Strikes Twelve (chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache)

I had the Charcuterie, Braised Pork Shank (falling off the bone tender), and the Jaq and Gus (amaretto cheesecake.)

For the rest of the experience--met Cinderella when we came into the castle (downstairs). During the meal we had Aurora, Ariel, Snow White, and Jasmine come to the tables.

Also, if you have an annual pass, you can get a 10% discount (refunded to your credit card). I assume they also take TIW, but we haven't bought that in years...so not sure.

We have always done brft at CRT - we are brft people and it is the cheapest if paying OOP. Disappointed they changed the menu, but the Caramel Apple French Toast on new menu sounds amazing! As mentioned by PP, you have to remember you are paying for the magic of being in the castle - definitely worth doing at least once! :tink:

Would also recommend Bon Voyage brft - only opportunity to meet Flynn outside of parties, and DD thought both he and Rapunzel we're very in character and entertaining. Totally agree to do all she wants now as the mom of a 15 yr old DD! You can do early brft here and then walk into Epcot through IG at opening, so like a PPO. We did this and went right to Frozen after. Or you can RD Epcot, get several things done in FW, and do this as a brunch meal since they are open till noon, and then do WS after.

We always do a late lunch or dinner at CRT once every trip and it is always awesome! Our girls (5 & 7) both love the "Build your own cupcake" dessert. I always get the steak and it's always good.

DD7, (6 at the time) building her own cupcake at CRT

I think the breakfast food is better than the dinner at CRT BUT I prefer the castle at night. There’s just something magical about being in the castle in the evening, with all the lights from Fantasyland glowing through the windows. And if you time JUST right, you can “see” the fireworks from the windows. One year it happened totally by chance and all my kids were gobsmacked :lovestruc I mean, I totally took credit as though I planned it that way for street cred but that’s beside the point :D

We've only had lunch at CRT, but it was great. It was last November and I was a little worried because so many reports here say that you are paying for the castle experience and the food is terrible. We thought the food was fantastic. For starters we had the charcuterie plate and the soup of the day (it was a bisque the day we were there), DH and I both had the shrimp and beef for our entrees and then for desert I had the Clock Strikes 12 and I think DH had the Jaq and Gus. Everything was fantastic. We got a table right up by the window over looking Fantasyland.
