I don't know if I can type this sensitively enough........here goes. My 2 boys will be 5 and 2 when we go on our first WDW adventure in April. My 5 year old already thinks girls are "gross", but castles, fighting "bad guys", and "being a prince" is "cool". Are the character meals in the castle pretty much geared to girls in princess outfits?? They would love to eat in the castle, but since girls are "gross", I am not sure if we shouldn't just choose another character meal if we'd be surrounded by princesses ("real" and little girls wanting to be princesses) Thoughts??? thanks......no flames please :)

My ds, age 5, did not enjoy either Princess meal. He did enjoy Liberty Tree Tavern character meal, and Crystal zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzpalace character meal.

I think it depends on the age as to if they would enjoy it. We are taking DN to CRT lunch in September. He's 3 and is excited about eating in the castle. Of course, he's not in that "girls are gross" phase yet so he will like seeing the princesses. I think his dad is more excited than he is though, lol.

My boys loved it at when they were age 3, 3 and 8. Being in the castle was a hi-light and my oldest DS wants to eat there for his 10th birthday. My favorite picture is of a love struck:love: 3 year old looking at Sleeping Beauty.

I was wondering the same thing. So what I did for our sept trip coming up was book dinner in the castle (no characters). This way my son wont have to be with the princesses, but will still get to eat in the castle which he also thinks is cool. Another plus is that dinner is not as difficult to get resv for as the breakfast or lunch. Hope this helps.

Did the same, booked dinner; will be vacationing with 3 nephews. They think dinning in the castle is cool.. :cool1:

We took my son when he was 4 for a breakfast at CRT and he enjoyed himself. Aladdin and the prince were both there so that was cool. He is now getting ready to turn 8 and would not be caught dead anywhere near a princess breakfast. I am a little disapointed since I am Cinderella fan myself but we have a new member of our family who will be sure to LOVE all the princesses in just a few short years  princess:

I had the same thought/question a few days ago.......... my ds who will be 6 on our next trip thinks princesses are "gross" as well. SO, we are going to CRT for dinner!! He wants to eat in the castle, but not with the princesses! I don't mean to offend anyone either, he has 7 princesses (cousins) that we adore!!!!

thanks so much for the tips!! I didn't realize castle dinners were not princess themed!! Sounds like a great solution.........

I was told this as well by a coworker that Aladdin was there. My son adores Aladdin so I tried to get the breakfast. When I called ADR the lady told me that had changed the format of the breakfast as of earlier this year. Aladdin and other prince characters are no longer there. Mostly it is just Cinderella and possibly Prince Charming if you are lucky. This is what they told me.

When we were there this past January we expected to see Prince Charming and my GD was upset enough about it to ask the waitress about him. The waitress put both hands on her hips and said in a totally shocked voice, 'My lady, this is a Princess breakfast! Prince Charming is out tending the horses!' The look on her face as well as the look on my GD's face when she answered her was so cute.

The characters there that morning were Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Aurora, Mary Poppins, and of course the Fairy Godmother was downstairs.

We're going for lunch but my boys are 14 and 13 so I expect them to be mature enough to handle eating with a restuarant of girls. I also have a daughter but we're mostly going for me. Also, I thought the lunch menu would appeal to everyone more than the dinner one.

Another "character" meal to think about would be Chef Mickey's.. I have it planned for our 1st trip (I have 3 dd's though) but have friends who have went to WDW every other year, since having kids. They have 2 ds's who love Chef Mickey's.

GL on your decisions! I do agree with other posters - try the palace for dinner with no "princesses" in sight!
