We thought it would be nice to go to CRT for dinner the first night we're there. A nice way to start our family vacation (kids will be 9 & 6) We will also be celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Would this be a good place to celebrate with kids or you have other suggestions? :goodvibes

We are doing CRT dinner the first night!! My DD's 8&5 will enjoy eating in the castle--and I can't resist doing the MK the first day!@!@ I think it is easier to stay in the park--(that we just got to) than to take a boat or monarail out and back just for dinner!! You know there aren't any characters there for dinner, but sometimes Cindy is in the lobby/waiting area for pics!1 We have other character meals later in the week to satisfy that!! So that is my long winded--"YES GO FOR IT" princess:

That is exactly what we did a week ago. It was perfect. Especially if you want to stay at the Magic Kingdom. Don't know if you are on the dining plan or not, but the slipper dessert is to die for! The meals are also huge. DD10 & DD4 shared with DH & I and then they shared the crown sundae. It was huge.

I forgot to add that Cindy was in the lobby also taking pictures and autographs. We didn't know she would be there so that was a nice treat.

we have 4 children -10,11,13,15 - what would you reccomend for them to order as they have very plain tastebuds. Also does CRT have dinner specials that are not on the menu. We would love to eat there on our first night too, but I am not sure, after looking at the menu, that the food would be to their liking.

We're heading for WDW tomorrow and we have dinner res.for CRT @6:45PM!!!! I also thought that it would be a great start to our vacation.

Excuse me - I've got to get back to packing!

Skip the Lamb Shank - I let the server talk me into it on Monday instead of the filet or the prime rib. Boy, was I sorry! It was dry and flavorless!

DD4 had the pasta marinara and it came with a little side salad. That was plenty for her. I think it would've been too much for me. The only items they have are on the menu. It does seem kind of limited. Are you on the dining plan?

Yes, we're on the dining plan. We just thought having dinner and celebrating anniversary here first night would be nice. I would like to go to Cali Grill one night too but from what I've read on this board.... doesn't seem like it's a place for kids. Although it does have a kids menu. I'm sure kids would like it if they could see wishes from there.
decisions decisions:rotfl:

My filet was the best filet I have ever had 3 weeks ago. DH's prime rib was good but not as good as my filet. We also did CRT our 1st night it was the best meal we had all week.

Sorry can't help with the kids tho no kiddes with us this last trip.

We are also going to CRT the first night. Its our first time eating there.
We also thought this would be the best choice for our first dinner.
Hope you all enjoy!

We loved dinner at CRT back in March. I had the prime rib and loved it. Great mashed potatoes too.

Sadly, I can't remember what the kids had. Whatever it was, they ate it!

The kids liked getting milkshakes there too.

I didn't like it. The food was o.k, but we felt rushed and the server was not that good Ferdine or something was his name. They were out of med prime and brought me a tough looking well cooked piece of meat. I told them if that is all they have I will order something different. First and only for crt dinner.

We'll be there too on our first night (honeymoon... :-) ) on October 3rd @ 8:10pm.

Can't wait!! Not too excited about the food though... I wonder if we can chose from the kids menu? I'd rather have pasta than meat.

so you can get the slipper dessert with the dining plan??

I too was thinking Cal. Grill but decided against it b/c of the kids. The first night we arrive, we'll be hitting the sack immediatly (midnight) so we have an extra set of credits for our trip. I was thinking we could do a signature exp. like CG OR do two TS on one day. I finally decided it would be more fun to do CRT and Spoodles rather than CG....my kids are well behaved but I want good food and a fun, informal experince so I think this is the better way to go.

I understand that ADR's are EXTREMLY difficult to come by for breakfast and lunch. Does anyone know if its the same way for dinner? I'm about 80 days out right now and don't plan on making my ADRs till the end of the week when I book the package...also I'm pretty flexible on this one....I would rather do an early or late dinner. Do you think I'll be ok?

Anything on the menu not to be missed???

Yep, DH & I were both able to get slipper dessert with the dining plan. It was awesome. There's a picture of it on the food pics sticky. When I made A/R's I was told it's easier to get the dinner than lunch or breakfast. Not sure why. I had to call 3 times to get the time I wanted. We had A/R's at 5:45. After we ate we walked around the shops until about 7:30. Then staked our place for the SpectroMagic parade. I highly recommend the filet of beef. The sauce that they use is so good.

ADR's for CRT dinner are earier to get than breakfast or lunch.

That being said, when you call, it is very likely there will be no timeslots available for dinner. When I made my original ADR's at about 70 days out, there was nothing. I called again at about 45 days, and got a 6:10 dinner on a Saturday in October.

They do not open the later timeslots (after 6pm I think) until closer to the date. I have heard 30 days out, 45 days, and when the park hours become official. By the posts on these boards, it seems to vary. Just keep checking and you will find a slot. Check these boards often, thats how I found out about the later time slots opening.

Someone please correct my information if it is wrong...
