CRT - credit card

Officially, if you have a resort reservation with an applicable dining plan (that is, not QS), you only need a CC hold on any of the shows or CRT. This is what you get when you call.

On the website, there is quite often a bug which does not properly recognize a dining plan on a confirmed resort reservation. This is why some people, even after associating their resort reservations, are being made to pre-pay while others are not.

The only solution if you are a victim of the bug is to call. Trying again later may work, but then you're risking that time slot that you want.

If you do pre-pay and want to pay on a plan, you may be able to get a CM to switch it for you. However, this is not guaranteed as they most commonly have to cancel and rebook. (Even if they don't tell you that's what they're doing, though I would assume that some "higher ups" may be able to actually do the modification, but that's only my gut feeling).

Alternatively, if possible, you can wait until the day of your reservation and pay with the dining plan instead, and they will refund the card used to pre-pay.

Well I'm glad I didn't 'catch the bug' when I got up @ 3 am west coast time to make the ressie, waiting another hour to spend 20 min.s on the phone to get to a 'person' would not have been a 'magical' experience, just saying.

Was this with the new booking system though? This is what he said about the new online booking system. so I dont know if things changed with the new system

I did it today, just out of curiosity. However, when I would booked of the cc hold ones last weekend (HDDR, BBQ and CRT) it took me to the old system.

As someone else posted - there has been a glitch when some people have done it and it charged them. Last year it did too, and people warned here - so when I saw a balance due (last year) I knew I was effected by the glitch, cancelled what I was doing and called. When in doubt, calling is safer in this situation. This year I booked all 3, and balance due showed "0" so I was okay.

Sndral - I got that same message for HDDR. I could book category one but would have to pay, as the dining plan could not be used.

Followup:

Called tonight and spoke to a wonderful CM who rebooked us - original ADR was for 12:00 now we're 12:05 - works for us!

He said there's a glitch somewhere in the system because this (associating a resort reservation w/dining to a CRT ADR and being charged for it) has happened to a few other people he's spoken to.

Anyway original reservation is cancelled and card is credited.

Whew!! Thanks everyone!

As far as I know, the dinner shows and CRT are not yet on the new system. Most likely due to the fact that money is involved and the system is still in beta, they don't want to incur extra costs for either party (us for accidental charges, them for transaction fees). The v2 system also does not yet take into account ages of the children, which may also be a part of the pre-pay lag.

Good to hear! :)

The bug with the dining plan association has been around for awhile (since online ADRs opened I believe). It's intermittent though, which always makes bugs like that much more difficult to track down (trust me on that one, I've had to attempt it).
