I booked literally first thing at 180 days out, and this was my first dinner reservation for my husband, six year older daughter and I. I found out last week that this reservation was canceled due to MNSSHP. They rescheduled us for a late lunch (2:30) the same day, but I am so disappointed. This is our second Disney trip, and CRT was my daughter's favorite expense the first trip. I cannot reschedule for another night, since I planned ahead and have bookings for breakfast and dinner every other night.

What should I do? I hate to make a fuss, but this is a game-changer.

Keep the lunch reservation.

Honestly, there is not much you can do beyond that besides cancel fully. Unless you have tickets for the party, you have to leave the park by 7PM. This is why your reservation was canceled.

If it was the princesses, then you can try for another princess meal. If it was eating in the castle, then keep the lunch reservation and maybe keep checking to see if a better times comes up (an early dinner before 7 for example).

If you can't do it another night, and aren't going to the party, there's nothing to be done.

Take the lunch reservation that they re-scheduled for you - I'm surprised they even did that. I've heard of others just being told their reservations were cancelled when there was some late-developing conflict (party, park closed for a group function, etc.) and they were on their own.

I have a hard time seeing how the difference between lunch and dinner is a game-changer? Same characters, same location, same day.

have you considered buying party tickets? or asking for an earlier dinner or a later lunch? i would call back and ask for guest services...
what time was your original ressie?

I've done both lunch and dinner and both were great. We had the same princesses and the food was good. In fact, we might have preferred lunch because they have Majordomo's Pie at lunch. Yummmmmmmy.

Wow, thats a stinker! This is why it was worrysome making ADRs not knowing when MNSSHP was going to be scheduled for (though there were tentative dates out at the time). But I really can't believe they would just cancle your reservations without sending you an email first! I would either keep the lunch reservations, or try and figure out another night - its a great experience that your DD will love!

The party does not start until 7:00, dinner usually starts at 4:00. They can't fit you in during those 3 hours? Or they are not having dinner at all those nights?

Have you tried moving the other dinners around so you can do CRT another night? Don't delete anything, just try and see what happens. I know it's a pain in the neck, but it might be worth a shot. I hope it all works out.

Keep the lunch...unless it absolutely had to be dinner for whatever reason. As noted, unless you have tickets for the party you can't have access to dinner after 7 on that day. There are still princesses at lunch and it is still in the castle. If there is some other consideration, like you don't have a park hopper ticket and you don't want to spend a day to enter MK when it closes early, then keep looking at the online reservations and try to reschedule. You may have to cancel something else you had booked, but that will depend on how important CRT is to you and/or your daughter.

How could they unilaterally cancel without notice because of the party - how was dining reservations to know that you did not have party tickets? Or do they just not serve dinner at all during the party? I thought they did.

I think you will LOVE the lunch! We ate there for lunch, and I loved every single minute of it!

I am sorry you are so disappointed about it not being dinner, but lunch is great, too! If you warm up to the idea of lunch and do not like the time for which they've slotted you, perhaps you could look online and see if there is a different time for lunch that day that would work better with your day's touring plan.

Hopefully it will turn out fine for all of you!:thumbsup2

If her dinner reservation had been at 6:30 PM, then she would have been fine.

What time was your ADR? How did they even find out you weren't planning on attending the party?

Did they call you? I can't imagine them just cancelling and rebooking you a lunch without contacting you first.

I just got a dinner reservation on 11/11. Granted it's at 3:50 PM.

I would call Disney dining and see if they can help you switch your ADRs around. They have the ability to search multiple days, whereas you can only look at one day at a time online.

Our dinner was 5:45. They phoned to tell me it was canceled, and offered lunch. The 2:30 reservation was the latest they could offer.

Actually, we are planning on attending the party, just haven't gotten tickets yet. I guess I am just bummed. I am sure the late lunch will be fine. I just wish that something else could have been done. Either don't take reservations for that night, or provide some measure of compensation. Last visit, this was the best experience, and I had my "Disney moment" with my daughter sitting in my lap watching the fireworks from inside the castle. I know this will probably never happen again, and certainly not at an early dinner in September. But good grief, we are paying a small fortune to visit (as we did last time), and it just seems like poor customer service to me.

I have no idea why they are cancelling. It can't be because of the Halloween party. Even if you didn't have party tickets, 5:45 is well before the party starts. Sounds more likely that they're renting it out for a private party or VIP.

This sounds more likely.

I have to agree. 5:45PM would not have put anyone in "danger" of losing their reservation for the evening even with the party. It truly sounds like something else is going on... either a private party or VIP would be the most likely.
