Can I try to get ressies for CRT breakfast, then give them to someone on the DIS boards? I think that would be such a nice way to spread a little magic. It's so hard to get ressies, I'd love the challenge of seeing if I could get them. However, my trip will be solo, and I really don't want have a desire to go to CRT breakfast. I'd much rather let some little child have the thrill of seeing the Princesses. So can I do this?

I don't think you can actually "give them" to someone since you have to guarantee with your credit card! (Now that would be MAGICAL!) Maybe you could make arrangements to cx them and have someone call right after?????

Or, you could reserve them with a check and have THAT person send in the check? Would that work??

well, if you are calling for someone else and that person is aware of it then you can just give that person's name and credit card number information - if that person trusts you with it. - or for example, I and one other person were calling the same morning for me... I got a 10 or 10:30 seating. They got an 8:05 seating. So I had two ressies ofr one breakfast. I posted on the board to see if anyone wanted the other ressie. There are two ways of giving it to another person. One is you have the person you want to give the ressie to call into wdw dine line, you call a few seconds later or at the same time once that other person is on with the CM you cancel the reservation you have...which makes it available and the CM on the phone with your friend sees it as available... This works sometimes and other times does not...

The other thing is in the case of my two ressies... a person contacted me who wanted them... I gave this person my confirm number for the 10:30... she was able to convince the CM that she was afriend and I bought it for her as she did not have the time to get the ressie herself. OK so she was lying... but it worked I guess... because when I called up to confirm my ressies the other person credit card was holding one of the ressies and my credit card was holding the other.

Now from what I hear CMs are not supposed to do what was done in this case. The lady who I gave the confirm to was staying at the dolphin and the dolpin and swan are the only two non disney owned resorts that do have access to the PS system. And apparently the swan and dolphin people had not been told that Disney changed the rules for ressies no longer allowing what was done. It kiund fo spooked me because I did nothing at all other then give one of my confirm numbers to this lady. It got me thinking that hey...it would be fairly easy to swipe someone's ressie.

But, I imagine if you got on the phone with a CM and you had "your best friend conference called in on the same line... I would think there is a fairly good chance that they would change the credit card info for the ressie right there as long as the two of you were on the phone at the same time and you gave your permission to change the ressie.

maybe, maybe not - just some thoughts. From comments I have seen on the board though, it is really frowned upon.

Thanks so much for the ideas! I think I will call and try to make ressies. Then I'll try the "cancel at the right moment" thing. If it doesn't work-oh, well-I'll just have to find some other way to spread some magic.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. Some other board tried doing it for a while and really got blasted as it was making it hard for a lot of people to get the priority seating.

Because of them Disney implemented the Credit card deposit needed.

Sorry, I was just trying to do something nice. What was their motivation? Maybe I should just make the PS and go myself since I've never been, but I had thought that some little child might enjoy it more. Live and learn, I guess.

How about making a PS for 5 and then inviting a family of four from the board to share this reservation with you??....I'm sure that will truly make a family happy ....Since, you are solo you get to meet some other Dis member who will truly appreciate your effort and you all get to experience the magic together!!!!! ;)

Their motivation was the same as yours - trying to be nice. The problem was, they had so many calling that they were taking quite a few reservations every day - then dishing them out on a board similar to the DIS. Leaving a lot more people disappointed every morning (and thrilling people on the other end - but not necessarily the ones that made the effort to try and work within the system).

You are trying to be nice, but the issue is that the reservation you will give away will be one someone else got up during the wee hours of the morning to try and snag and missed.

Thanks for explaining it. I guess I just hadn't thought it through. But now I definitely see the "glitch" in my thinking. However, I do love the idea of making ressies for 5, then inviting another family to join me. I just love to see children's excitement when they see the characters. And I'm not too cool on dining alone. This sounds like it might be a compromise.

I think one of the other problems that could easily arise if people were allowed to do, in mass, what I did for this one lady when I gave her my PS number and she was able to swap the reservation information on that ressie with her own information... I think what could wind up happening is people scalping CRT reservations. I am sure I coud have sold that reservation for far more then the cost of a CRT breakfast. Frankly, if someone offered me a resiie for me and my DD I would pay through the nose for it. So, that would be a big problem...and then that would further create a logistical problem for WDW DINE group. Say I called in and got ressies for 10, and then sold them in 2, 3 or 4 person lots... the reservation system would frequently be in flux. It would far more difficult to anticipate how to arrange the floor plan, how many tops they would actually have on the day of the event, who the parties actually were...the logistics could be done... it would just be more of a hassle for disney and probably more costly. I think Disney by implementing the policy is just trying to even the plaing field for everyone. No special treatment, For example, I could afford to spend 100 dollars or more a head for that breakfast. If the CRT could be swapped...you could very easily wind up with a situation where only people with a swat of money would be able to attend the CRT. But as it is....if a person can afford Disney, they can probably aford the less then 20 bucks per person breakfast. It is actually an incredibly inexpensive activity. I think my daughter was like 10 dollars for her? Where on earth can I get my 7 year old that much entertainment value and fantasy value for 10 dollars? absolutely no-where on earth. So by having the no swapping policy Disney gaurantees that everyone is the same... the rich or the poor and everyone in between have an equal chance of getting the CRT. No preferences
