CRT - Breakfast or Dinner

We've been to CRT once 2 years ago for lunch. While the food was just "ok", I thought the princesses and the atmosphere was superb.

We had a ressie last year before MVMCP and I cancelled it because I was reading so many negaitve reviews about dinner, but I missed it. DD5 was pretty upset too.

So, this year I have a breakfast booked (on DDs bday) and a dinner on another day. Birthday girl wants 1900 PF for dinner (also booked for that day @ 6pm) so this is just a bonus and she could care less if we eat at the castle (it's really for DD6). I'm sure bday girl will be into it once we're there, but she's turning 9 so I she's "acting" like she's too old/cool for princesses...lol! It's alot of princess for one day, but on the other hand the castle on her bday would be so special!!

We are paying for the CRT meal OP, regardless which one I keep.

So, my questions are:

1. Keep breakfast? What kind of food? I thought I read something about stuffed french toast, but don't see it on the menu.
2. For those who have eaten dinner at CRT within the last year, how was it?
3. The dinner menu on the WDW site states beef tenderloin as a choice, but I've read that it's changed to Roast Beef.

Well, I know lots of people have had negative posts about CRT dinner but DH and I somewhat foodies and we thought it was the best meal had all week- even better then Flying Fish. I had the Pork and he had the steak, our salads were wonderful but now the have cheese and I had a special toffee creme brulee- special of the day- best dessert all week- we did dessert party and dxdp so we had lots of desserts.

I am sure your princess will enjoy either meal but WE love dinner.

I honestly had the worst food I have ever eaten at WDW here for dinner..overly salty soup, greasy cornish hen and a glump of mac and cheese...vile. We really enjoyed breakfast though.

I had dinner there in Sept (first time) and enjoyed it. Food was good and I loved being up in the castle.

I've been struggling w/ this same Question - thanks for posting it! My kids are picky eaters, but breakfast is always an easy meal. We will be paying OOP instead of DDP b/c we want to stay off-site. Many say they do not think the breakfast is worth the money. BUT if my kids won't eat dinner, then dinner is REALLY NOT worth the money. Someone told me lunch would be good????? Thanks for posting...I'll be listening.

It seems like the only options for kids on the dinner/lunch menu are a pizza (I think the WDW mini pizzas are yucky) and fish, which I can see lots of kids not wanting.

Breakfast seems to be a family style meal where a bunch of different types of food (eggs, bacon, french toast, fruit) are brought out to eat family style which seems like a much better deal for young, picky eaters.

I'm not sure if it's updated or not, but when I look at the menu via the Disney website it says there's beef tenderloin and nuggets available for kids. My kids are picky, but they do enjoy a good steak. I wonder how updated the menu is. I could have sworn I had read that they did away with the beef tenderloin .

We really liked our dinner at CRT when we went in September, so much so that we booked another dinner for next week. We actually like the dinner more than the breakfast (we much rather have a princess breakfast at Akershus). When we dined there both DH and I had the beef tenderloin and we thought that was very good.

I ate dinner at CRT in December and it was okay. The soup (beef barley) was really good, but the entree (beef tenderloin) was only okay. It was cooked well, but the flavor was not anything special. The desserts were pretty good (there were three of us so we tried the mousse, trio, and sorbet). Overall, we were glad we went, because it was fun to eat in the castle and see the fireworks from inside, but aren't planning to go back on our next trip.

So overall, I would say that it's a fun place to eat and a great experience, but not somewhere I would say to go because the food is wonderful.

I have eaten there for all three meals within the past year. I have found all three meals to be good. I felt a little rushed at breakfast but dinner was great! Not rushed at all and we had a great waitress. Lunch was delicious as well--Major Domo's Pie. We don't have kids so I can't give any information about the kid's menu but, at breakfast, we had a choice of things to eat.

For me, it would depend upon whether we were on the DDP or paying OOP. If I were paying OOP, I'd do breakfast because it's cheaper and you should get the same character interaction, PLUS you get into the park earlier if you have an early ADR.

If I were on the DDP, then I'd do dinner because it's a better use of the 2TS. Dinner is more expensive, so if I'm gonna have to use 2TS, then I'd rather do it at a more expensive time.

We did a breakfast and dinner at CRT in November. I thought the food at both meals was very good. I thought the dinner had a certain ambiance just being at night that I didn't feel at breakfast. We had a table right next to the window so we could see the lights outside which was really cool. Like another poster, I thought the breakfast seemed a little more rushed, but it was still very enjoyable.

I will not do CRT twice in one trip again, though, bc I just didn't think it was as magical the second time that week. My DD loved seeing the princesses again, but I prefer to keep it as a special, one-time-thing for each trip.

Here are advantages to both that you might consider: If you go early, around 8 a.m., you can be in Fantasyland right after breakfast and ride some rides when everyone else is still coming through the gates. For dinner, we had ressie's at 8:10 p.m. which I really thought was too late. However, we got a special surprise when we walked out about 9:45 and they had roped us IN the castle area. We stood right under Tinkerbell, looking out at the thousands in the crowd, and watched her fly over us. Then we moved down to just inside the rope and watched the fireworks. It was truly a magical experience!
