We are leaving for our 1st trip to WDW in 13days!!

I have a CRT booked for lunch and we are planning to go to MK for Rope Drop that morning. I wasn't able to get a BBB appt. for my 5yr old DD but thought of possibly getting a dress off of ebay for her to wear to CRT. I am curious for those of you who have done a CRT for lunch before how many of the little girls are dressed in a princess dress? I am worried that it will be very hot and I don't want her to wear the dress all morning as we go on the rides but I am also worried about trying to carry around a princess dress all morning.

I'm sure I am not the only one who has had this problem before so I am looking for a little advice on what to do? Would appreciate any comments on this as I am definately a NEWBIE to CRT and WDW!!

THanks so much..:)

of the young ladies I saw were dressed up.

We follow a plan similar to yours. My wife gently packs the dress in a large backpack. She rents a locker for the backpack almost first thing and then dresses our daughter probably 30-45 minutes prior to the ADR. A few photos and some video before lunch. Usually it's back to the resort for a mid day break after lunch.

You'll probably see some who are not in Princess attire but I think most little girls are. My DD is 4 and we will be doing this again when we are there next week. I am planning on having a change of clothes for her when the lunch is over and she is tired of the dress.

Last year, we did the Norway Princess dinner and she wore her Aurora dress to that. Once it was over she wanted to change immediately! Later in the week we also went to 1900 Park Faire and I didn't bring her dress because I thought she'd had enough of it the other day and I also didn't want to lug it around . Well, when we got there and she saw so many other little girls in their Princess dresses, she wanted hers. She was not happy that I did not bring it!

The year before that, when she was 2, we also went to CRT and she wore her CInderella dress. In spite of the heat, she did not want to take off that dress and wore it afterwards on all the rides.

You never know what they will want - it all depends on child and what age they are.

I was at my local Walmart today and they had a really cute Cinderella dress for around 15.00 on clearance. I am guessing you already have your dress for your DD, but this one caught my attention because it was an exact replica of Cinderella's dress and it was a really thin material that might be cooler than some of the other dress I have seen.

Thanks for the info. on the Cinderella dress as no I don't have her dress yet. She outgrew her Snow White one and so I thought I would buy her one in WDW but maybe a thinner/cooler Cinderella dress would be better?? Thanks.

My daughter wore hers for the meal and 1/2 the day and then took it off for her nap at the resort with Grandma. She was 2.5 then, now at 5, I wonder if she will wear a dress or not.

HEy, we will be there the same time!!!

We took our first WDW vacation last year as well... it was magical. I wich your family to have a magical one as well.....

We did CRT and I would guesstimate that 30-50% of the little girls were dressed up. DDs were able to do BBB prior,,, but I would just take a dress along and put it on her shortly before lunch. They actually "store' pretty well... This year we are not doing the BBB, but doing a princess meal... we are just having them wear a cute sundress w/tiara. (that I am carrying in the backpack) I have planned to put the dresses in the backpack as well,,,,just in case they change their minds and want to wear the princess dresses.

Got this Cinderella dress at Walmart for about 20.00.

Brought a change of clothes for her but she wanted no part of getting out of that dress. She had just woke up from a nap but did warm up to Cinderella

It turned into one of my favorite Disney moments when Cinderella put her on her lap. I hope it turns into the same for you and your daughter:wizard:

we've been 2x for breakfast and found most were not dressed up. My girls will be dressed up this time around as they are doing BBB right before breakfast but I'm not sure how long the dress will stay on. My oldest will probably want to change before the day is out.

There are a lot of girls that dress up but I have seen everything from the Disney Princess dresses (very itchy my DD has to wear a tee shirt under them) to the fancy Princess nightgowns. They would be cooler to wear and easier to schlep around.

We were there for breakfast a few weeks ago and I didn't see anyone dressed up while there. I did however see several dressed up walking around the parks and looking very hot!!

I say do what you feel is best for you and your dd

For my daughter dressing up is part of the fun! I understand all kids are different though and for some that may not be important. Instead of a *princess costume dress* consider a *princess outfit* My daughter really stood out! The outfit was cool and comfy enough to wear all day in the parks too!

Thank you everyone for the great advice!! I think I will probably break down and buy a princess dress for her to change into but will also dress her in a cute outfit that will be a little cooler.
THanks again!! :)

We've been several times, and most of the younger girls were in princess attire. Last trip we did BBB but did not buy the dress there - we brought our own (as we have a closet full) and after the pics she took the dress off and we just kept it in the stroller.

It also would depend on the age and personality of your child...on our first visit to CRT we did not realize kids would be dressed up - my daughter who was probably 4 at the time was upset that she was not wearing a dress and the other girls were.

Hope you have a great time! :)

My DD is past the princess stage :(. She is 9 but this is the first year she has requested to eat in the castle. I think it's because it's the castle, not that the princesses will be there. Obviously, she will not be dressing up.

DS though really enjoyed the princesses in Jan. He would smile real big when he saw them and just giggled when they kissed his check. He got that look like "Ooh, how pretty!" Maybe I can dress him up like a little prince.

We went back in May to CRT and let me just say it has slipped big time!!! I remember when they offered the KING and Queen cut prime rib!!! It was reasonably priced considering. Now, the menu is limited to what it once was and over priced. The "show" or visit from the fairy godmother is lack luster. You used to get a limited lithograph but not any more. We used two of our meals on the dining plan to appease the kids and what a waste. I would rather hit California Grill. (The kids loved California Grill!!!!) To ram home my point, the kids both got chicken nuggets at CRT, looking at the receipt..... $28 FOR CHICKEN NUGGETS!!! They got steak at California Grill and Citricos for less. We are personally done with CRT

I am guessing you went to the dinner if you saw the Fairy Godmother. I have heard some less than thrilled reviews with the dinner, but I have to say I loved the lunch we had there. It was calm and we had a good time with the princesses - Snow White, Belle, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Mary Poppins. It is expensive but for us it was worth it. For those of you considering it, check out the menu & prices on allears. We have made reservations for both lunch and breakfast for our next trip (it was the only thing my son(!) wanted to do - he loved eating in the castle and getting a sword, as did my daughter)

When we have lunch there I will have my son's Prince Charming outfit in a bag in a locker. I will then have him change just before lunch and use the rest room in the castle to change back after lunch. This way he is not in the hot sun in it all morning.

How old is your son and where did you get a prince charming outfit? My son is two and I would like to dress him up to go to CRT but only if I could find a costume that wasn't long sleeved. He is so hot natured. Do you have picture?
