Did the thread on the Crowley/Gates/Cambridge incident get deleted? I can't find it.

I'm not looking to resurrect it if it was removed. But I'd like to find it if it is still out there.

Thanks!

Yes I am guessing once He Whose Name Shall Not Be Spoken butted into the situation it turned political.

You know, I'm still confused on the policy.

You can't even mention the name of a politician (even if you aren't talking about his party affiliation, standings, and voting record).

But you can quote bible verses all day long with no problem (which seems to be a blatent violation of the policy).

I just don't get it. :confused3

How are we supposed to adhere to a policy when it isn't clear?

So,the thread was deleted because a politician's name was mentioned or because the incident was discussed???

Ours is not to question the great and powerful Oz. BTW I notice you are from Ma did you watch Ch 7 news today at noon?

I was wondering the same thing. I wonder why it wasn't just locked. Completely deleting it seems kind of drastic. Oh well.:confused3

What is this, 21 questions? Beat it, hippy, and take your free thinking, establishment questioning silliness with you! ;)

I know you weren't asking me, but I don't watch channel 7 since they fired Randy Price. Oh, wait. I guess it would be more effective if I told someone I'm boycotting the station :(

But I digress. I've been watching channel 4 - what do you want to discuss? ;)

I am stuck at work, what happened on the news at noon? I don't have access to a TV. I was actually finding that thread pretty informative. I usually avoid debate threads but I was really trying hard to understand where both sides were coming from on this since it is obvious both sides feel very strongly. I hadn't read it since yesterday afternoon, though, so maybe the thread got ugly :confused3?

Press conference - two Cambridge police unions and a representative from a multi-city police department coalition.

All speakers spoke in support of Crowley and his actions. The coalition rep mentioned they're being inundated with supportive e-mails from police officers from all over, as well as from the public. Pretty much, what the unions want is apologies from several specific newsworthy persons :teeth: (but not Bill Cosby - probably because he went on tv yesterday to state he's staying neutral).

eta: what are you doing at work when there's this news stuff going on? :rotfl2:

OH I forgot what they did to Randy....I think it was because they were biased against him...do you think he should sue? I actually spend most time watching 25. I was not sure which station he was on. I will defniantely NOT watch 25 now though.

Devil had not back peddled as yet. What about Mumbles did he say anything. Some one alluded to it on the news but I did hear of any eloquent utterings from him. I am thinking perhaps he will drive them all to the nations capital so that they can all have a beer. Yes that is the way to resolve name calling get drunk on our dime and then go pee on the steps of the LIncoln Memorial.

If you don't live in Ma you might not know this means so do not think I am crazy.

Watch this poor guy get tore to shreads the next few days as a "sellout":

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A black police officer who was at Henry Louis Gates Jr.'s home when the black Harvard scholar was arrested says he fully supports how his white fellow officer handled the situation.

Sgt. Leon Lashley says Gates was probably tired and surprised when Sgt. James Crowley demanded identification from him as officers investigated a report of a burglary. Lashley says Gates' reaction to Crowley was "a little bit stranger than it should have been."

Asked if Gates should have been arrested, Lashley said supported Crowley "100 percent."

Gates has said he was the victim of racial profiling.

President Barack Obama says the officers "acted stupidly." Lashley called Obama's remark "unfortunate" and said he should be allowed to take it back.

Well, he was kind of placed in a bad position. I couldn't imagine him saying anything else.
