How are the crowds at the Universal Parks during New Year's week?

I'm sure it's packed through New Year's Eve. (What kind of NYE celebration do they have?) What about crowds on January 1st? And the rest of the week?

Thanks for your feedback! :)

New Year's Eve is a zoo! They have a separate ticketed event at CityWalk. Jan. 1 and thereafter the attendance goes steadily down.

Thanks, Motherfletcher. :)

When do the holiday decorations come down? If we don't care much for big crowds but we have a 5 day pass, is it worthwhile going in for a day (prior to New Year's Day) just to see any special shows, events, lighting or decorations?

Are there in-park fireworks or laser displays at the Universal Parks on New Year's Eve or other nights that week? Are the parks open until midnight? Any place special to try to be, for viewing fireworks?

Any other tips, anyone, on seeing the parks during that week?

My husband and I spent New Years Eve at Citywalk in 2001 and 2004, and both times were great!!!! Its not for everyone, but it was a different experience for us, from the normal routine celebrations at home. There is live entertainment, plenty of food, and street performers during the evening. The price is normally around $100+ per person, but in our own opinion it is well worth it. The crowds are plentiful during that time of year, but since we were without children, it made things a bit easier for us. I posted an detailed trip report here from our last visit, which will give you more insight.

Whatever you do, have a good time! We plan to return in 2007. :cool1:
