Can anyone tell me what the crowds were like last week? The first Week in May.

Thanks!

I just returned from 5/1- 5/8 and the crowds were heavy. On 5/8 at MK the minimum wait was 20min (Snow White??) with waits up to 50 minutes. I have never gone this time of year and I probably won't return again during May.

I thought the crowds last week were not bad at all. Most of the time the waits were half of what the standby wait time said. I also used the Unofficial Guide's best days to visit which parks strategy. I would definitely go again during the first week of May.

We just returned on Sunday from an 8 night trip. I would say the crowds were definitely manageable. We didn't wait more than 25 minutes for anything - and the waits were definitely shorter than the times posted. We did use Fast Pass and arrived at most parks for opening. Obviously by 11:00 Fantasyland was packed, but we had expected that and so we did Fantasyland first thing. I would say we were able to finish all of Fantasyland in a little over 2 hours. I would go back at that time in a heartbeat, but sadly DS starts Kindergarten in September and so we're going to have to follow his vacation schedule for future trips.

The longest waits I had were 50 minutes standby for Everest on Sunday April 30, 45 minutes for the bus after MK closed on Monday May 1, 30 for Mission:Space once on Saturday May 6, and 20 for character meet and greets shortly after ToonTown opened on Wednesday May 3.

I agree the crowds were manageable. We were there from 4/29-5/6. Like most posters said the standby times were much less than the times listed. We ended up using FP 3 times between all the parks, which to me was very good indeed. The only downfall that we came across was our hour wait for a bus from AK on 5/3, Wed. of our vacation, 1 hour wait and Dowtown Disney the same night, 1 hour 45 min. Regardless of that, I would definitely do WDW again during this time. We had a great time! :thumbsup2

Have a great vaction! :)

Our friends went May 4-9 during Grad Nights. They went to Park Opening and used Fast Passes and they told me that had very little wait time. They thought it was much less crowded than when they normally go in the beginning of October but it was MUCH hotter. They did tell me that they did Soar'n first thing and when they got out there was a 50 minute wait, so timing is everything.

We were there from April 27th to May 6th. Crowds were no problem at all to us. The longest we waited in line was 10 minutes. However I expected this because we were using Tour Guide Mike :thumbsup2

4/30 - 5/6

Weekdays were no crowds whatsoever except when we did AK on monday morning w the EMH. Was shoulder to shoulder in there it seemed back by Kali and Safari, but at the same time we did standby for everest in 15 minutes.

MK Sunday 4/30 and following Sat were somewhat crowded, but not unbearably so. Only lines we saw were for Dumbo and Peter Pan. Also went Tuesday afternoon and basically walked on anything we wanted w/o FP (Space M, Buzz, Splash, BTMRR) and also FP'd a few things just cuz we could.

Monday afternoon til Friday night almost anywhere we went was definitiely not crowded. The exception was MGM Friday morning when it seemed there thousands of Highschool kids there, but ToT and RnR were still no more than 20 minutes, but by noon time they were either gone or fairly well dispersed.

We were also there 4/30 - 5/6 and we hardly waited for any lines. We used Tour Guide Mike as well so we had a good plan. The only time we really waited was for Astro Orbiter (20 Minutes) because my 3 year old saw it and wanted to ride. Like some others said, a lot of the time the stated wait time was longer than what we actually waited. For example the wait posted for Peter Pan was 10 minutes, but we really waited maybe 2 minutes. We did Magic Kingdom 3 different mornings and had Fantasy Land finished in 1 hour each time.

The weather at the begining of the week was great (low to mid 80s), but it was hot by the end of the week (low 90s). Great pool weather for mid-day since I don't like to be cold when I get out of the pool (I'm a wimp, I know). It was never unbearabley hot and humid like summertime though. Last time we were there it was August, and THAT is hot and humid!!!

We liked it so much that we already have a trip planned for around the same time next year!

We were there from 27th April til 10th May, and we found the crowd levels excellent. It was our first trip to WDW, after numerous trips to DLP during very quiet times, so I was a bit anxious about long lines as none of us do well in crowds at all. However, the longest we waited was 25 mins for Astro Orbiter on Tues 9th because it had been closed first thing due to lightening in the area, and DS really wanted to ride it so we did it in the afternoon knowing it was the worst time.

We also used TGM, although we did not follow any strict plans, we used his general philosophy to great effect.

I would go again at this time of year in a heartbeat although it did get very hot towards the end of the holiday, it didn't bother us!

On Tuesday 9th in evening we walked straight on to Thunder Mtn 4 times in a row.
