Help - I'm wondering if the experts here can give me an idea of what the crowds will be like from August 23 to 29th?

I checked the blackout dates and they are not blacked out ...

Our plan is to go to DL/DCA in the morning, leave early afternoon and come back after supper. We will also use fastpasses ...

Any advice you can give is great - thanks!

The best way to gauge the crowds is too look at the hours. Since they are open until 11 during the week, I would go with expecting heavier crowds since during the off season times the park usually closes at 8.

The crowds have been awful this week . . . hopefully they will die down for your visit next week! Early morning (before 11:30 or so) has been great for us - lines are not too bad then. We try to get to the parks around 9 and grab some fastpasses, then hop on the rides we really want to do that have no fastpass and a big line later in the day (like Nemo or TSMM). I think leaving the park in the afternoon is a great idea, but so far for our trip (unlike any of our previous trips), the crowds have been worst at night. DLR is simply awful - a sardine can! If you have things to do at both DLR and DCA I'd try to hit DLR first thing in the morning and then escape before it gets too packed. DCA is much more pleasant (than DLR) at night - yes, there are still long lines, but with the wide walkways it feels much less crowded. Also, you can watch the DLR fireworks from DCA or the entrance plaza if you want to avoid the masses.

Have fun! :)
