Crowds or special happenings on Easter Weekend?

I'm sure we shouldn't be heading to any theme park on a holiday weekend, but it was the only weekend that was going to work out for all going. So, I'd like to know how the crowds are at US and IOA on Easter weekend. Also, are there any special things going on in the parks?

We love Disney resorts and will be staying at All-Star Movies this trip. I found out that they are offering all kinds of things at the resort like crafts, games, and cookie decorating. I'm hoping for something special at the Universal parks.

It's getting close, and I really would like some information from those of you that have been to US and IOA on Easter weekend. I read on another post that the gates can open earlier than the time stated on the website. Have you found that to be true? Is Easter Sunday worse than Friday and Saturday, or the other way around? HELP!

I am here to answer my own question. Saturday was VERY crowded with very long lines. Easter Sunday was much calmer.

Hopefully you still enjoyed your trip and plan to reward us with a trip report! :)

Okay, I enjoyed my trip! We got to the parks early, not as early as I wanted to. I was traveling with four kids and they wanted to sleep in. On Saturday we arrived shortly after opening at IOA. That was the best time to get on rides. If you can believe it, Pteranadon Flyers had a 75 minute wait early in the morning! I asked the attendant if that was correct and she said it was. It was pretty hot. We got soaked in the Splash Zone at JP River Adventure and were dry in about an hour. We had the all-you-can-eat wristbands and ate too much! The kids are offered a kid menu that isn't posted. They couldn't choose a dessert and got a chocolate chip cookie with each meal. We never got on Spiderman because the line was always too long. We didnt' do any shows. There were a lot of characters out. We got in line for Bilge Rat Barge when it said 45 minutes. We ended up in line for an hour. Some guests in line with us were as upset as we were on that one. We watched the Express Pass line go through for a long time while they held us up. The attendant was letting everyone on, including those that just walked up. She wasn't letting anyone from the regular line through for quite some time. It was pretty bad because it added 15 minutes to our wait time. On Easter Sunday we went to US first and headed back to IOA about 5ish. The crowds were much tamer. The lines weren't nearly as long. I rode Hulk and DD for the first time! I usually sit out with my 4 year old. I had the teens take turns watching her this time. I had a blast! Those are great rides! We got on Spiderman finally! We ended up being the last ones on and they shut the doors behind us. We had a car to ourselves and sat in the front. It was the best! Again, we saw a lot of characters. It was a lot of fun and we ate too much with the wristbands again!
