I'm curious how the crowds were over the past week and this weekend - how were the waits in line? We're heading down in just two weeks  and I'm hoping the Spring Break crowds have gone down some :wizard: .

My family and I will be going in 12 days (woooo hoooo!) and I am curious about crowds now too! I have never been this time of year.....

I did look it up on touringplans.com which gives info from the unofficial disney guide and the last couple weeks of April look pretty good...heres a link http://www.touringplans.com/BestDays.htm

:cloud9:

WE WILL BE GOING IN 13 DAYS..I CAN'T WAIT IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 20 YRS SINCE MAGIC KINGDOM   :cheer2:
AND 8 YEARS SINCE EPCOT.....

DD'S FIRST TRIP TO WDW :wizard: princess: princess:

PSB LUNCH APRIL 24TH
1900 PARK FARE APRIL 25TH
CHEF MICKEYS APRIL 26TH

EVERY ONE HAVE A SAFE TRIP!!!!

We were there last week (1st-7th). I would say it was an 8 on a scale of 1-10 for being busy. We got to the parks early & used fastpass so we did fine. Definitely not as busy as summer.

My step mom e-mailed me this table from the Unofficial Guide. Here is the rest of April. The gridlines won't cut and past in, but it is the date, then the estimated crowd on a scale of 1-10, the best bet parks, then park to avoid.

Best Days to Visit Each Disney Theme Park

This information is provided courtesy of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger. The Unofficial Guide is the best selling independent guidebook to Walt Disney World. The 2005 edition contains almost 800 pages of useful information on hotels, restaurants and step-by-step touring plans for each park. It's available at most bookstores, including the Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com websites.

(And I have read the 2004 and 2005 editions, cover to cover!!)

So they don't think crowds will be too bad at all. I am so psyched! :smooth: I didn't have much luck trying to format the table. If anyone wants me to e-mail the whole thing (I goes throught 12/31 send me a pm with your e-mail.) If I knew where she got it I would post the address.

Len posted this on another thread it looks like the last week of April is now a Five

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate it a 5. It's Spring Break for NYC public schools, I think, as well as New Hampshire public schools. Grad nights are that Friday and Saturday, too, I believe.

Wow! My usual search on DIS doesn't include my own name, so I missed this thread. :)

I'm wrapping up the "Best Days" recommendations now, with a goal to get the website updated by this coming Friday. There will be changes to both the crowd levels and the daily recommendations. We're also going to try to answer the following questions:

1) How and from where do you get data to make these recommendations?
2) What holidays/special events do you take into consideration?
3) How important is choosing the "right" day? What other factors influence wait times?
4) How accurate are these predictions, anyway? (Alternate title, suggested by a reader email: "What the h*** were you thinking on March 30?" I may actually use this title in the '06 edition.)

and

5) Your new advice seems to conflict with the 2005 Unofficial Guide. Why?

For #5, it appears that we may recommend Disney-MGM Studios on Sunday, even though that's usually the Studios' EMH evening. We'll also occasionally recommend Epcot on Thursdays, even though it's Epcot's EMH evening too. Hopefully we'll do a good job explaining why this isn't a bad idea in #1, #2, #3.

We quantify #3 in terms of extra minutes spent waiting in line. We'll also tell you what things are more important than day of week when trying to minimize wait times.

For #4, we went back and looked at our predicted crowd levels versus the actual wait times in the Magic Kingdom for January 1 - April 4, 2005. The preliminary result is we'd give ourselves a B using the old method, hopefully an A using the new.

If the mods don't object, I'll be happy to post drafts of the text here nightly as I work on them, to obtain comments and suggestions. That would start this evening. If not, I'll post a draft to the website under the (mis-spelled - ha!) "Sneak Peeks" section.

Thanks!

Len

It looks like it's going to be a little more crowded than we thought

I would agree....except that I would classify Wednesday at the MK and Friday at Epcot as busy as summer time, at least late July.

The Magic Kingdom was very pleasant on Thursday--we rode more from 7-8pm than we did in several hours on Wednesday....and this was before the nasty lightning started.
