We are heading down on the 16th. What are the crowds like? I thought is would be a slower time but with the food and wine festival and the golf tourn, I'm starting to wonder.

Yesterday, I checked out car pricing just to see if ours went down. It went up by $60 for 6 days. Happy I booked when I did. To top it off, there are no more full-size cars available from Budget??? Then it made me check flight and they all look almost full?

Has anyone been down at this time? We've tried to stick to Sept or early March. One year we went over Columbs day and it was packed.

We were at WDW during the same period (PGA Golf Tournament and Epcot Food and Wine) in 2000, and thought the crowds were not necessarily light but they were very manageable. We are coming back this year (from the 19th thru the 25th) because we felt that the golf, weather and crowds make it a good time of the year to do WDW.
I hope to see you there.

Unless you are entertaining the possibility of changing your travel dates, it's really out of your control. Don't stress about it!!! ;)

Yes, October is typically one of the slower periods. However, if you're travelling the week of the golf tournnament, I would expect some increases. You mentioned the food & wine festival, but you also need to factor in the Halloween festivities and even the Fairy Tale Package.

So, start jotting down all of those great touring tips. Plan to use EMH if you are staying on-site. Use FastPass when necessary. And don't forget to have some fun while you're there.

We have been there many times in October and the crowds are very manageable. There are several special events (Epcot Food and Wine Fest, MNSSHP,golf tournament,Columbus Day long weekend), so there are "pockets" of time that may be a tad more crowded than others, but I've never encountered unbearable crowds. Nothing like it is in the summer.
