So I have consulted a couple crowd calendars & logged in our choices on touringplans--quite pleased at the actual wait times they estimate!

We are there 9 days; we have a 3 day Universal hopper pass & a 7 day WDW hopper pass (they were buy 2 days get 1 free/buy 4 days get 3 free, so the overlap is what it is)

This is 3rd family WDW trip; DD & I did WDW & US 2 years ago for dance team. Kids are 16, 18, 21.

We are thinking a day at each park, 2 at EPCOT (their fav)--probably somewhat divided between the 2 parts of EPCOT.

That leaves us 2 extra days. Sunday of Memorial Day weekend is showing up as crazy crowded at every park so I am considering skipping parks that day--maybe swim, relax, who knows. DH & I did MK on a very rainy Xmas 20 years ago & have NO interest in revisiting that madness.

It seems odd to me that the rest of our trip puts most parks at more moderate crowds.

Does anyone have experience with this time of year & can confirm?

Should we avoid all parks on that Sunday?

THANKS!

We go that week every year. The schools in the south are out but the schools in the north and Florida don't get out for another week or so. That helps the crowds. We have run into some school field trips but they were not that bad. Over the weekend a lot of locals are in the parks. If you have a plan its manageable. We went to the water park on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend last year and did AK in prior years.

Awesome, thanks for your experience. I might let the kids take the lead. We can always go early for a while then leave, too.

Keep an eye on the projected opening for Pandora. It could busy up that week if some rumors are true.

We arrived Memorial Day last year, but didn't go to the parks that day, so I can't comment on the weekend. But the week following Memorial Day wasn't bad at all. There were crowds, but not like we were expecting. We had previously only been there in early May, and we really couldn't tell that much difference between the two times.

We were there last Memorial Day. Sunday at MK and Monday at HS, it was crowded but it was our fist visit so we didn't know any different. I planned well and we did everything we wanted to do. So, I can't say it was too terribly bad.

All 3 day weekends are similar to a summer crowd with easter being a little bit more. Now memorial day weekend happens to be the start of summer season so it's not really going to dip all that much after the weekend and just keep growing as more and more schools get out..

Pandora, and more specifically when they announce the opening date of pandora is going to be the game changer. if they give a month or 2 warning, then the crowds will be significant (tm steve)
