We are coming last week in Aug (Tues Aug 29 - Fri Sept 1). Now I know that Friday (and maybe Thursday) is expected to be crowded due to the Marathon over Labor Day weekend.

However, I thought Tues and Wed were supposed to be light (at least in the day as AP are no longer blocked). Today I get an email from Touring Plans saying that on the Tuesday, they have modified the Disneyland crowd from a 2 to an 8. That's quite a big jump!

Wednesday has similar changes.

Is there something going on during the Tues and Wed that I'm missing?

They have bumped up the numbers for all of August. The beginning part going up to a 10 and the middle jumping 2-3 pts each day also. It jumped the same day maxpass was released, coincidence?

Since their estimate is based on wait time, not actual park attendance, this could be saying that the changes to FP so far have not had a positive effect on wait times...

I hope that as FP usage smooths out and everyone gets the hang of all the new processes, that wait times will even back out.

On another board someone posted that Disney was cutting staff hours thru September which could affect wait times as well. Not sure if they take this into consideration on the crowd calendar or not.

Lifting the soCal Ap blockout causes huge crowds, and is not an indication of lower crowds.

Thanks for the replies. I hope MaxPass isn't affecting wait times. Trying to understand that one. I know that FastPass might run out quicker (since can book quicker online rather than having to walk to the ride), but why would that affect wait times?

I think you will have a great week! Just maximize fast pass and maybe buy maxpass one or 2 days. Also, since school has started, hit the morning hard and leave the evening (when everyone floods the park after school) free. If it makes you feel better, checkout this thread. At least you avoid black hole week.

Thank you. I am thinking possibly purchasing MaxPass for the Friday since that has always been warned of being busy due to the marathon. Not sure we'll leave the parks during the day or evening but we'll just have to be more patient or choose less popular attractions.

Our last day is Sept 1st so don't need to worry about the WOC black out (thank goodness as Fantasmic and fireworks are only shown the one night too).
