How are the crowds at the end of June over the July 4th weekend?

Thanks.

I have been to Universal twice during the July 4th holiday. This past summer I went later in July. The crowds seemed just as bad later in July as they did during July 4th. If you stay on site, the crowds don't matter because you'll have FOTL. The only time it was REALLY PACKED was for the fireworks on July 4th, but the display was so wonderful that it was well worth it!

How soon do you have to make ressies if they include the 4th of July? We've been twice around the 3rd week of July and are thinking about moving vacation to the last week in June through about the 5th of July. I suppose the heat is not much better at that time?

It was actually cooler last summer during the week of July 15-20 than it had been during our July 4th visits. Don't get me wrong, it was still hot and humid! I think we booked in March for our July 4th stays.

We're already booked for the 4th at HRH. Last year we were there the week of July 15. Can anyone who has been there for the 4th tell me about anything special they do for the Fourth of July? Thanks.

DisneyMom, how did you book the HRH? I keep being told that rates are not out of 2005 yet. Did you get a discount rate, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks.

When I've been there in the past for July 4th they had fantastic firworks displays. The fireworks were set off simultaneously from US, IOA, and City Walk. Quite spectacular.

VW13 - I booked through Loew's. I got a AAA rate. The rate for HRH Club was $336. The rate for a regular deluxe was $309. I think the rate for a regular room was $269. Still hoping for a beter rate but the difference between club and regular deluxe was only $27.00 per night. Hoping that we can still get one of the deluxe clubs but they tell me that you can only request that - it's not guaranteed.

Thanks gschmerl. This is all helping me zero in on a timeframe for our visit. Now if we could just make a decision on how many nights, I'd be all set! We spent 7 nights last year which didn't seem like enough to do all the offsite stuff we wanted, 10 nights this year which seemed like a little long since we knew our way around. One more question: does a lot of the big part of the July 4th holiday crowd seem to stay only a couple of days--- meaning, does the crowd of the park go back to "normal" after the 4th or does it stay "holiday" crowded for the whole week. Gee, hope that makes sense

I depends on when the 4th falls. If it leads into a weekend, then you have weekends crowds. Even with the holiday crowds with FOTL we never waited very long at all. The only time we had any wait more than 15 minutes, was if there had been a malfunction on a ride. The parks didn't seem much more crowded than the normal summer crowds (which are BIG). It was just the HUGE crowd at City Walk on July 4th. We watched the fireworks one year from IOA and the next from US. It was just about impossible to walk through City Walk after the display. If you view the fireworks from one of the parks, just don't be in a hurry to leave. Let the crowds at City Walk thin out.

Thanks! Sounds like a plan we can deal with......and an extra opportunity to sit and enjoy a margaritta somewhere!
