Crowds in Sept

Ainmama, what is the "Dreams" campaign? We will be there Oct 7-15 and I was wondering if there is anything exciting being offered. First it was the bump up to hopper tickets that ended June, then the dining ending at end of September so I've been feeling cheated (ha ha). I was just hoping there is something for me too. :rolleyes:

My dad and I are taking my kids the 24th-28th, staying at CR. Im planning on it being hot and humid (not looking forward to that), but as long as there arent any hurricanes Ill be happy. Sept is peak hurricane time.

The dates to avoid certain parks I believe are due to the extra magic hours. I jotted them down this morning-there were a few extra hour mornings, and a few at night. You can find the park hours on WDW website.

We're going the last week of Sept. I was so hesitant to book this week because of hurricane season but it was the only week dh could get off. If we were to get down there and then have bad weather hit where they shut down the parks, would the insurance we purchased with the WDW package refund our money?

We went down this last week of Sept. 11 years ago on our honeymoon and the weather was great. It was hot during the day but I don't remember it being unbearable. The evenings were beautiful. Being from the north we were out swimming in the pool in the evenings while we saw other people wearing light jackets. We had one day that week that rained and it only rained a short time in the afternoon. Couldn't have asked for better weather. (I do think a hurricane or tropical storm hit the following week though) I just wonder if I will be so lucky this time around.

It's still pretty hot in Sept, but NO WORRIES there are virtually NO lines and crowds! It's an AMAZING time to go!!! Have fun!

There was a time when that would be very slow, including the weekend, now I'm guessing the weekend will be fairly crowded UNLESS there is a hurricane. South Florida schools have that Monday off and with MNSSHP, F&W, and free dining, its going to be a popular weekend for FL residents.

Our last day in the parks is the last Friday of Sept. (29th). We leave on that weekend, Saturday. We should still beat the crowds...............................
right?????

What about 9/25 to 10/3?

That's our trip dates and I'd like to know how crowded and hot it will be.
Thanks! :)

If you look back at posts #13 and #18 they will give you some links to help in determining this. Post #13 gives the link to the history of the weather in Orlando for those days. (Well, I think it ends Sept. 30, but with the drop down box you can change the dates.) It will give you the average high, average temps, rains, etc. Post #18 gives you a link to see how crowded the parks are expected to be. Once the page opens from the click on the link, you should see "crowd calendar" on the left of that page. Click on "crowd calendar" and scroll down until you see your dates. They rate the crowds around a 4 or 5 level that last week of September! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. :)
(I accidently posted on another family members account before)
Looks like only 4 or 5s, woo hoo!

A bit too hot though. :sunny:

I am trying to find a list of times for the night shows -- Fantasmic, Illuminations, Wishes and Spectromagic-- for our dates. I have found the calendar of operational times for our last week of September (23-30), but I would like to know the times of the night shows. Does anyone have the link to that information?

We were at wdw last oct5-9 and it was still HOT. The crowds were heavy but that was because of Columbus day so you should be fine. Have fun!!

ok this touringplan.com thing...what does DS stand for...
I have
EP=epcot
AK=animal kingdom
MK=magic kingdom

is ds supposed to be for MGM? I'm lost

We were there last year and it was hot! I just checked the weather underground site to see how hot it actually was - it sure felt hotter than 90 (if that's possible). I think it was quite humid as well.

I noticed one day (9/26/04) was only a high of 78. I thought that was unusual - then I noticed there was over 5" of rain on that day :boat: :scared1:

On that site, I think they use it as "Disney Studios" - so yes, MGM.

Most of the things that are issues with going in September have been covered, I just thought I would mention a couple of things that I've noticed that might give indications regarding crowds.

We are booked for this Sept. (5-11) with the Free Dining. About three weeks ago, once all our travel plans were finalized, I called WDW-DINE to make our ADR's for the trip. Some of the places are relatively popular restaurants, and a few are character dining - the ones that are often harder to get ressies for and where they are serious about calling 180 days in advance.

When I called, it was about 90 days in advance of our trip. When talking to the CM, mentioning the restaurant and date and for what meal, I asked "what do you have available" - her reply - "what time do you want, it's wide open."

While I know that many people don't make ADR's - considering the Free Dining Promo, the wide open availability for some of the most popular restuarants (ones like Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Chef Mickeys, Cindy's, etc.) makes me hopeful that crowds will be low.

It's been a while since I have been at Disney, last trip was in '98 with my wife - before we had kids. We were there in September when Hurricane Georges went through. It really only gave us one bad day of weather. That was easily offset by the virtual lack of lines on some of the popular rides (we walked onto Pirates for example - and even with AK just opening, we only waited about 15 minutes to get on to the Kilimanjaro Safari).

Yeah, it was hot - and we're expecting heat for this trip. For us, the low crowds make it worth the heat and chance of hurricane.

When you go to the calender on the disney website just click on the individual date you are looking for. The schedule of events for that day (parades, fireworks) will pop up.
HTH! :thumbsup2
