Thinking of going in early oct how are the crowds and weather and info

We're also going this October. I've heard that this is a big convention month so the hotels can get very full even though the parks aren't bad. In fact, we tried to book the Swan or Dolphin, but they're full when we want to go due to a convention. I'm told that the parks do get very crowded during President's Day weekend.
