Why does touringplans.com have the entire Month of May listed as 8 and 9 size crowds? Is it usually that crowded in May? I might change my plans for next year based on this information.

That's strange. I've been there the first week of May a couple of years ago and crowds were great and weather fantastic. Warm enough to swim by day and a light jacket and shorts by night and no humidity. I was planning on going next year for my B-day which is in May but then again maybe not.:confused3

yikes, I'd love to know this too. We'll be there the first week. Is it all because of buy 4 get 3 free?

I hope the crowds aren't that bad. I am used to going in September when the crowds are very low, but i just can't wait any longer so I am giving May a try. I NEED my Disney Fix

May is a great time to go . . . Flower Festival extras, the potential for great weather, and a smaller crown than during Spring Break!

Last year at Spring Break, I had the back of my shoe stepped on multiple times due to the mass of humanity all gathered in one spot, and had a lady ram me with her twin baby buggy! (Three times I might add, just to let me know she wanted by . . .)

Have gone the last two years in mid-May and thought the crowds were fine. Weather was perfect and we really like going that time of year.

How rude....you should have pushed the stroller back at her!!!

We are going May 8-12 and I am a little worried about the crowds simply because according to member services there are only 1 bedrooms available at SSR. Even OKW is full. I know the flower and garden festival is going on but I was really surprised since school is still in session (at least it is here). This thread really interests me since we are used to going in the first weeks of November and we usually have very low crowds. I have been searching for a website that posts attendance by month or week and all I can find is by year. Has anyone ever seen something like that before?

We're at SSR the 14-21. We've been on the waitlist for several months for a two bedroom at AKV or BWV. Nothing yet. Have called MS a couple times to help things along but no such luck. I've been told all the DVC units are filled to capacity except SSR & OKW.

I think it might be an unusually crowded month of May at WDW.:scared1:

Not what I was hoping for, we'll be at right around the corner at OKW from May 14 - 22.

Our May trip 2 years ago is the reason we are traveling in May again this year. We LOVED the flower and Garden festival, and the weather was perfect. I do think the crowds are more than September, but not unbearable at all. We found lots of Europeans that time of year.

We'll be at BCV for some of the week of the 17th. I was able to make a lunch reservation at Crystal Palace for 7 people about a month ago. That to me indicated that it's not going to be terrible crowdwise. We often have gone the week before Memorial Weekend and have found it doable.

Next year's dates for the Flower show are March 3 through May 16, so it's not going to be going on over Memorial Day Weekend. I'm sorry about that, that weekend gives DH an extra day to use because of the holiday.

we are also going may 9-15 and i can honestly say i am not worried about crowds, but i know last year it wasn't busy...we shall see

May is usually a good time to go! I did try to get a studio at SSR for May 21 & May 22 (thursday & Friday) the two nights before our cruise. May 21 there is NO availability. We booked the 22nd and paid cash for Pop on Thursday ($88.97 w/AP discount).

I don't know why it would be so busy then?? Most school don't let out yet, but I know FL (we used to live there) and AL let out at the Middle to End of May.
after our cruise we'll be at SSR (using DPs) for May 30-June 6th. I"m sure during the end of the trip it should get busier.

NOOOOOOO!!!! :sad1: I teach at a college and we wanted to go next year right after finals before the summer crowds pick up. We of course can still have fun, but I'm so sad to miss the F and G Festival.

It could be all the developer point related bookings due to 3 new WDW resorts selling simultaneously. All those folks have to use them before Sept/October so this summer could see larger than normal crowds as the DVC resorts are getting booked to capacity.

offsite is where most of the guests stay.

looked around and can't find anything - that says that many.

think he is just playing it safe. they say that March (based on numbers before disney started the buy4 get 3 free sale) were so very, very far off.

he say it would be 6 & 7 - when it was 10 (and higher if there was one).

the parks have been closed already - but those were the Easter and Palm weeks which are always crowded.

so will look again - but it does not look anything special (the flower/garden but it never attracted that many people)

besides the offsite resorts are only starting to offer discounts NOW.

So not sure! the Kidania at AKV is opening the first of May - but can't see it being a problem.

Check out the Theme parks forum! There are tons of threads with discussions about this very topic. Some theories are the 4/3 deal drawing more people in, and also the closing of Space Mountain (causes strain on the other attractions).

You may want to look at the touringplans explanation of how they come to their conclusions on crowd level (explained at the bottom under the crowd level numbers).

Under the crowd levels, it explains that levels are based on peak wait times at the MK for Splash Mtn, Space Mtn, and Big Thunder Mtn Railroad.

I think everyone will be fine as far as crowds in May, (IMHO, of course!). :thumbsup2

We'll be there the same time. I hope it's not too crowded. We have done May several times with only average crowds. We've never had to hunt for a chair at SAB. I also called just last week and added a couple ADRs and I had my first choice of restaurant and times so I also took that as a good sign.

That is strange because I could not get ANY of my ADR's 3 weeks ago, I finally did get Ohana for May 5th for 9:45pm (which is now sold out), Garden Grill May 6th for 7:45pm ( this took 3 days of phone calls), and I still can not get Spirit of Aloha for the 3 days I am there. I have never had such a hard time with ADR's, so I think it is going to be busier than I am use to this time of year.
