Thinking of making a trip the last weekend in May, which is Memorial Day, right when the kids get out of school. Trying to avoid the summer rush, heat, and try to hit the parks early. How are crowds usually at that time? I know Memorial Day holiday will increase them, but is it better to go in early summer as opposed to later in the summer? We have never gone in the summer before, we usually try for Thanksgiving or Mardi Gras here in New Orleans to avoid the heat. Any suggestions? Tips? Would we do better waiting for the weekend before Thanksgiving? Any opinions are appreciated!
It was terribly hot back in 2000 (and I'm a southern girl
), and very crowded (but we were used to going in December). But if we don't go this May, then we'll have to wait until the fall (and I think I would burst by then!
). The Unofficial Guide ranks the crowd level for that weekend as an 8 (out of 10). But with some planning I think we'll be fine.
