Crowds in late april /1st of may?

Is the 1st of May a good time to visit Walt Disney World. Is it warm enough for the water parks. How crowded will it be? We are 1st timers and are very excited but want to make sure it's not over crowded.

I've been to WDW during the first week of May before and it is an excellent time to go!! Spring Break is over for the schools, but they haven't gotten out for the summer yet. The crowds aren't bad at all. The weather was pretty warm when we went, but not unbearably hot. I would definitely go again in early May.

We are going April 26-May 7. It seems like there are a few others on the board going then. I can't tell you how the weather will be, I"ve never been at that time of year, but I'm hoping it's perfect!

My DW and I went for our Honeymoon May 20th of last year and it was perfect.

This year we are going Late April 21-27 and I expect the weather to be just right.

However, I do prefer Late October but plans just did not work out that way.

The last week of April is still some people's school vacation week. It is here in NH (and I think VT too). We were there one year and it was pretty crowded then.

My DH gets the 1st week of May off (between winter and spring semesters.)

It is my favorite time to go to WDW. The weather is great, the crowds are low (for Disney.) The rates are good. Rental car rates are good.

And best of all, the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot!

This year we are doing a DCL trip with a few days at WDW. I will miss going over to Vero Beach. We love VB in May too!

People, April/May is the WORST time to go. It is extremely crowded, hot, over-priced - just AWFUL. All of you should reconsider your poor judgement and reschedule your trips for another time!!!!!!!!!

They were actually really easy. I followed the directions I found here on the Dis. We ran into another family with mickey head shirts, took one look at each other and said "Disboards right?" it was too funny!

We are going 4/25 - 5/1. One of my coworkers who goes to Disney A LOT said that the last week in April was the best time he's had. I'm assuming he meant low crowds and low heat but...

To the OP: crowds shouldn't be horrible - most spring breaks are over, Easter holidays should be over (for those that are tied to Easter). Lots of school trips though, and Grad nights - just watch for those. But overall I imagine it will be great - not dead quiet by any means, but not crazy either. Weather should be great from what I've heard!

To everyone else: horrible, horrible time - don't go!!!! LOL

YOu are so funny!!! At first I was like "what are they talking about?" and then I got it.
Okay it has been a rough morning for me! Anyways, this is our favorite time to go- we are going May 3rd for 5 nights. Oldest DS is in middle school now so he can only miss a few days. Wish we could stay for 2 weeks, but we can't, so I will take what I can get. Have a great trip everyone!!!!!!
