Hi There :wave2:

A friend as asked what are the crowds like in July/August  , will they have to wait long to get on the rides :confused3
They can only visit during the school holidays, so are limited to July/August

Many Thanks

Hi,

As you might imagine, there are gazillions of other people who can only visit during school holidays, so tell your friends to be prepared for large crowds in the summer months.

The most crowded period in the summer is the last week of June through the second week in July.

Crowds are still quite large from mid-July until mid-August, then they become much more manageable starting around August 20 or so.

So if your friends must come in the summer and are trying to avoid large corwds, the end of August will be the best time.

The last two times we went was during the first two weeks of July. It is VERY crowded and HOT! That being said, we had a plan, stuck to it and had only short waits. Planning is key, I can't stress that enough. I would suggest that in addition to having your friend join these boards, they might want to check out and sign up for either Tour Guide Mike or the Unofficial Guide for planning tips. TGM is my personal favorite.

While what everyone says about the crazy/huge crowds is true, we always go to WDW in July and it is do-able.

My rule of thumb is to avoid the 4th of July and be done with your trip before the 12th of July. People going to WDW for the 4th of July are usually gone by the 6th and after the 12th, the dreaded tour groups start appearing!!!!! You do not want to be there with the tour groups. The humidity/heat is really brutal in August too, so that's why I would avoid any time in August.

Going to WDW in July does take some planning, so please don't try and wing it. Make ADR's, make a plan for each day according to the EMH schedule. Take full advantage of the AM EMH's and get out of the park around noon when the heat/crowd are at their peak and go swim at your hotel. Most importantly, don't try and do it all and remember to have fun! You're on vacation at Disney World!

Good luck!

End of August was bad but maneagable last year. Compared to crowds at DLR, the crowds at WDW were awesome. . .sorry but I have both to compare. . .

We went during spring break with a 4 yr old and 8 yr old and we did everything in MK in one day, you can do summer just have a plan, water, and patients b/c it is hot, sticky, humid, crowded and FL does have summer rain storms don't last very long.

Before last year the only time we have been able to go is in late july early august. We found it worked best for us to go in at opening, go back to the room about 1 for nap, pool, or just cool showers and a movie, and then head back to the emh park around 4 or 5. We were staying on property, so it made it a lot easier. The lines are long, so fast pass is pertinent, and the misty mate fans work great this time of year. Just like everyone else has said with planning it can be a wonderful trip.

I totally agree with the fans...we went in the middle of August last year and it was so hot and the crowds were heavy....

We have visited Disney World both in July and during Easter Vacation. As others have said, they parks are usually crowded during school breaks, but when we went during Easter Bread '06 we found that the crowds and lines were not really that bad.
July was crowded in '05 when we went, suprisingly. But that goes with a trip to the most magical place on earth.

Its not HORRIBLE but its not GREAT its sorta in between we go around that time every trip.. Have a great trip!!
