Crowds in August

So, how does someone protect themselves against going during unblocked dates? Is that AP schedule posted somewhere?

I was there on August 28, 2008, which was mid-week. I was shocked at how empty it was. Honestly! It was my first visit since before the summer blockout dates, and I really expected it to be very crowded, but I wanted to bring my mother for her birthday and first visit.

Even one of the CMs said that they were expecting low crowds that day. We waited no more than 3 minutes to see Mickey in his house, mid-day - that's how empty it was.

I'm sure it will be different this August because of WOC, but just thought my experience might be helpful.

Hoping that the parks aren't too bad in early august. All the info out there seems to look like it will be ok.

Early August should be pretty good. Most AP's are blocked, weather a bit cooler than later in the month. Cali always seem to get hotter in Sept than August. I would avoid the weekends though.

Hi, all. I just wanted to say a sincere "thanks" to all of you Disneyland regulars. Your posts are invaluable for those of us East Coasters who are trying to plan trips. Because we're used to going to DisneyWorld, we're obsessive planners (have you noticed?) not "day-trippers". I'm planninjg a trip to DLR August 3-8th, and hopefully I've picked a good time thanks to the posts I've read on this board. Please, all of you, keep up the good work. By the way, does it seem to you that more and more folks are planning first time trips to DLR this year instead of going to WDW?

I was there the week before you and the experience was different. But I was talking to some of the CM's and they were saying that they could not wait for the next week to get there, since it would be very slow. Last year, very, very, busy.
