Crowds First Week in January

We are thinking about going to WDW the first week in January in the hopes to have minimal crowds. We've never gone in the winter before though.

What do you think about the crowds and weather for this timeframe (jan. 2-10, 2004)?

We're also going those dates and I'm wondering about crowds/weather as well. Hopefully someone can clue us in! I have been in January before, but I was 6 and I don't think I can make an accurate assesment

We are also going January 1-6 at the All Star Movies and were wondering about the crowds. Someone had posted that they weren't bad after New Years.

we will be visiting between 12/29-1/9. can't wait to bring in the new year and my 45th year with the mouse!

The crowds will be massive on Dec 31, and then start to dissipate after Jan 1. Expect things to really lighten up probably after the 3rd. The WDW Marathon weekend starts on Jan 9. The actual marathon isn't until the 11th, but you'll see a boost in the crowds a couple of days before as many of the runners and their families will hit the parks before the main event.

we have gone the first 2 weeks of January the past couple years and are going again this year to participate in the marathon on Jan 11 (Sunday). the crowds this time of the year are minimal but the weather can be quite cool. although, after reading the posts from summer travelers, I am grateful for the cool temps. be sure to pack for all types of weather. i live in Alaska and still find the evenings to be cool enough for layers and gloves. In 2002, it got to freezing at night and they had to pull out all the flowers at the resort, since they froze. you will have a great time! dawn
