How are the crowds in early June?
How early do we need to line up for parades and shows during this time?

Thanks.

How early June? On and after June 11 crowds will be incredibly large wioth the openmng of World of Color. Before that crowds should be moderate. On weekends it will be busy though.

Early June may be a good time to go. Schools are getting out, true, but most will want to put off their trip to DL for the WOC show. I think that their are a few grad nites near there so I'd avoid them and go mid week. After June 11th, fuggedaboutit. I expect large crowd all summer long. I'll stay away until September/October.

These threads are really starting to scare me. Why oh why did DH have to be in LA the week right after WOC opens!

Now keep in mind, it was not the opening of the much-hyped WOC. We were there for the 2nd week of June.

Mornings were moderately crowded, Tues and Wed were good and manageable. However, by about 1pm, throngs of mid and high schools were there in packs, with their matching t-shirts. It was cute! abeit teen-ish. As I have a teen, she thougth it was fun, but it was rather crowded in the evenings, it didn't really lighten up at night.

Moral of the tale? Mornings were def. best.

The purpose of these threads is not to scare but to inform. Knowledge is power. If you have inflexible dates - and you do apparently - then you can use this information to make some upfront judgements and be aware of what is happening. The worse situation is that you did not know anything and just showed up at DLR and had no idea why it was so crowded, if that was normal, or how to respond.

Maybe an appropriate thing to do is to use RideMax. Or make sure you have DLR FP down pat - it has some idiosyncrasies that do not exist at WDW. Or make sure you know how to really maximize Magic Mornings. Etc.

You can have a great trip!

Do not be scared! Be prepared!

Hey that rhymes! :goodvibes

I usually go to Disneyland the last few days of may/early June or the first week of june all together. Crowds are moderate it is not peak season as kids in the area are still in school, but do expect school field trips, and an early park closure come Thursday night as it is grad night and the park closes early for them. Also people who may live in a different country might have kids out of school by this point and may take their family on vacation. But major rides like Indiana Jones, Nemo, Splash or Space Mountain are around 60 minutes come peak afternoon, and other rides may only be 15-25 minute waits.

I will definitely stress to you that you make use of your fast passes as that will save you some headache, but also remember that when big shows like "Fantasmic, parades, or the Fireworks" are on, that is a good time to hit up some of the rides as that lifts some of the tension on lineups.

But early June is definitely manageable.

Also be aware that Indiana Jones was slotted for refurb June 1-4 last time I looked. I refuse to look again since I'm not changing dates again! :lmao:

I heard they were planning to change the Indy refurb to June 6-10. ;)

Ok I am bringing my kids (teenagers) from May 30-June 6. And plan on staying away on the 30th :scared1: but may go in the park the night of the 31st...maybeee but just to do a few rides and more for me to explore Main St since I usually rush through there.
Then we plan on doing Disney June 1-2 and again on Sat 5 maybe Sun before we leave to come home (which I expect to be busy but am hoping to did the majority of things on the 1st n 2nd) Does this sound reasonable?

thanks for all inputs, we are thinking of going right the first week of June. Hopefully, we'll avoid the WOC crowds.

You never know though... maybe there will be soft openings of WOC during the first week of June. Rumor has it that their might be. Dont quote as nothing is official yet, but Disney is working on it. :confused3

 I know...and I am trying my best to read up on everything, but it's just so hard not to get nervous. It feels like a full-time job trying to keep up on my research here while still taking care of the things I need to do IRL ;)

Strange but I actually feel relieved to go to DLR BEFORE the WOC premiers. Anyone else feel the same way? popcorn::

I am actually. At first when there wasnt an offical date, I was getting really excited and hoping it was gonna be during our trip date, cause Disney was throwing some date ideas around. Now I am on my knees with my hands clapped towards the sky. No offense to those going during that time, because although it will be busy, I am jealous you get to see all the hyped up expectations in action. Also there will most likely be celebrity viewings and to possibly see some celebs would be most awesome too. So there are perks around the opening date. I am hoping for a soft opening, but if not I have something most exciting to see on my next vacation.

We were scheduled to be there the 11th and 12th. Then when the premiere date was announced, we bailed and scheduled earlier. It still might be crazy busy, but I can't even imagine what those days will be like....

We do. We're hoping for a soft opening or something while were there, but also hoping everyone else decided to wait until the 11th or so to go so they can see the show. :rotfl: If we miss the soft opening, oh well, at least we won't have to deal with the bigger crowds. :goodvibes
