Crowds during marathon?

We arrive Jan 6 with the grandkids (6,6,4) planning on MK when we arrive and the next day (Sunday). Where does the marathon take place and will it be extra crowded?

The marathon will be out of MK before the park opens. The morning hours shouldn't be all that crowded, more crowded as the day progresses.

The marathon does not really impact crowds at the parks. However, since that is still the weekend of New Years, crowds will be increased at the parks, if this year is any guide. Local schools are still out as well, so that might play a role.

Marathon impacts the resort availability much more than it impacts park attendance. Yes, there are a lot of folks there for the marathon. But that's just it, they're there for the marathon - the parks are secondary.

Yep! This. We've gone a few times for marathon weekend and other than lots of people in running gear at the resorts, park crowds seem totally unaffected.
