crowds during 1st wk of Oct

what are the crowds like during the week- and weekend. I have an upcoming trip and didn't even think about the Columbus day holiday. We will be leaving that Sunday before, so will the week prior be a good time?

Surely the crowds at Columbus Day weekend is like crowds at summer????

I have heard that weekend is busy, not to worried we will be leaving early Sunday morning, so as long as the first part of the week is less crowded I will feel successful. Went in the spring of 2005 so crowded couldn't move. YUCK. Do you know when southern schools are on break?
