Thinking of pushing May trip up to December to see the holiday stuff. Will the parks be very crowded these days?

I have a surprise trip planned for hubby's birthday from the 11th - 13th of December. I am expecting that Friday will be reasonable and we'll get quite a bit done, with the evening getting busy.

I fully expect Saturday and Sunday to be very busy. Since we're AP holders and there all the time, I'm going to do some other things on those days to mitigate the crowds (watch Aladdin, since it's going away in January and doing the Holiday Tour so we can hit a few rides with no wait and see the Christmas Parade without spending a ton of time waiting in a good spot, etc).

For your trip, I would expect the same...with Monday and Tuesday a little better crowd-wise. Most schools won't have started holiday breaks yet, so the parks get worse the week before and after Christmas, rather than your dates.

We went last year around that time and it was quite busy, but seeing the holiday stuff was worth it! However before you decide I would recommend reading the holiday super thread as they are not doing a lot of the holiday decor/stuff due to the 60th and it may be busier due to the 60th (it seems it has been busier all year then normal). We are going Dec 8-16 so despite the lower decor and crowds we find it worth it. It's such a great time in the park if you don't mind crowds (or know how to avoid them well) I would recommend going during the holidays!

Oh I forgot to mention some schools let out that week from school (earlier then most) or kids go out of school a week early making it busy. You might also check what passes are blocked during that time but I think the local APs are so that could help with crowds.

Those are the same dates as our upcoming trip so I'm curious to know what others experiences with mid December are as well. We were there for one day on Monday the 8th last year and it was not terribly busy, I never felt like it was crowded but I also never felt like it was empty. I'm hoping the major crowds won't roll in until the following week - our schools (Northern CA) are still in session through the 18th and so I was hoping something similar for So Cal.
