Crowds before Christmas?

Does anyone have experience with crowds at WDW during the week before Christmas??

I ask because ... we are thinking about going to WDW for a few days after our Disney Cruise. That would put us at WDW from Sun. Dec. 20 throught Tues. Dec. 23. We went during the 2nd week of Dec. in 2001 and had a GREAT vacation.:) But I know it will be more crowded the closer we get to Christmas. I don't mind some crowds but don't want a situation where we can't see/ride anything due to crowds.

So what do you think? Is it worth trying to fit in a few days at WDW before Christmas or should we just save our WDW visit for another trip? (It will be hard to be so close and not visit The World!) We would stay on site and could take advantage of EMH and maybe E Nights. I just don't know ??? Any advise would be GREATLY appreciated :)

I have gone to WDW for ove 10 years the week before Christmas and I feel it is the best time to visit. The temp stays around 72 and you never have to wait in line. It seems that people forget they are open or something. I would highly suggest a trip at that time.

Jeremy,

Thanks :) That's good to hear! We have some friends who went the week between Christmas and New Year. They found the crowds unbearable. I was worried that before Christmas would be similar - since most schools will be out on the 19th).

Well, I have not been there at that time but it looks like you and I are on the same plan.

I am doing the three day cruise on 12/18 and going to Disney for a few days afterwards. I had planned to leave Disney on 12/24, but that is one of Southwest's few blackout days so if we use my free tickets we have to stay until 12/25. I figure even if it is crowded it will be OK. I have been there before and will be back. (It will be my mom and I. My brother's family will go from the cruise back to Atlanta to await Santa!)

Hubby, mom, and I will be there the 13th - 20th. I've heard this is one of the best times to go - little crowds, low temps, etc. I did hear it rains more often but we could get lucky!

Carol - We'll just have to hope that everyone else is planning their Christmas Disney trip for after Christmas!

EpcotJunkie - The week of the 13th should be fine - definitely low crowds. When we went in December we had no rain. The temps can vary a lot though in the winter - just like here in Texas :)

Good time to go. The crowds are down, the decorations are up and the weather is great. We will be there 6th throught the 13th. After going in December we went last year in June and it was less enjoyable than December. June was hot lots of people and it didn't seem like it came close to Christmas. 114 days and counting.

Went the week between Christmas and New Year's and have vowed never to do that again it was horrid. When I was looking at Christmas vacation this year I decided to try earlier. I'm heading there on the 11 and leaving the 17th. From what I hear it won't be as crowded. I can't wait. I love Christmas time.

The crowds typically pick up around dec 18 or when kids get out of school. It will be much more crowded during that time than the first two weeks of december! I'd go in a heartbeat from Dec 1 to about the 16...after that I'd probably still go (because a crowded wdw is better than NO wdw) :) but would just remember that the crowds will be getting heavy.
