I have a trip to WDW pending for sometime in late August or Early September. Its a trip for 2 to most likely the Pop resort. I was just wondering what the crowds would be like during this time period as I figured most children are gettin ready to go back to school. Also, if anyone has some weather info about this time of the year down there, please let me know. Thanks.

I was there Aug. 25th-29th and the crowds weren't bad at all. Little or no waits on most rides. The weather was typical summer weather - hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms pretty much every day.

HTH!!! :teeth:

We went the last week of September this year. The crowds weren't bad at all. The temps were in the high 80s to low 90s each day. It wasn't bad though. We carried the misting water fans with us. We all wore tank tops and shorts. This helped a lot.
I am posting this link for you to check out the weather history for the last week of August and first week of September. You can change the dates to suit your trip. This will give you an idea of how many days had rain, average temps, etc.

I am sure that you are aware that those weeks are during hurricane season so the possibility of a hurricane/storm is there. However, I have read from many DISers that WDW is a great place to be during a hurricane.
Also, these dates have been during the free dining promotion during the last two years. (That is why we went in September this year.) I don't know if you are aware of that or not. You can keep checking on it because they haven't posted yet if they will offer it in 2007 or not. You may be able to get free dining for those dates!!!! :thumbsup2

We were ther the last few days of August in 05 (fleeing hurricane Katrina) and the crowds were great. The weather was another story we were miserable and thats saying something because we live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and are used to the heat. I would take the crowds over the heat anyday but I hate the heat. Thew crowds however were great. We walked onto most every ride.

We were there in late Aug. this year. It wasn't too crowded, so that was great, but the humidity was a killer. When we go to Disney we are usually up and going the entire day. This trip we took a break in the room every day and we were done by 6pm, the heat and humidity just knocked us out. So it all depends on how that affects you.

I was aware that free dining had been offered in the past but was not sure if it was during the timeframe I was planning. It makes me very happy to hear that as we are two college students attempting to keep the budget as low as possible and thought we would have to pass on the meal plan and just rough it. I pray it gets put into effect again. Where would I be able to keep checking, a specific place on the WDW web site or something?.....Everyone has been saying it is very hot and humid even during these times, so I would assume that the water parks would still be an option this late in the year. If anyone has any opinions on the water parks during this time, let me know...I just did not want to br freezing while waiting on line...but it sounds like i wouldnt. Thanks for all your help.

I have been there in Sept, back in '00 and '01. I do recall HOT. But hey, it's WDW. :cool1:

We were there last Aug. the 22-29. It was the first time we went that time of year. As predicted it was hot!!. It stormed a couple of the days in the afternoon, but none of the days were a wash out. The rain was weird it would be pouring in mk, but not at mgm. The crowds were light. I strongly suggest getting to the park at opening and taking abreak around mid day when the heat gets brutal. Would absolutely go back again that time. The only concern is the potential is the dreaded "H" word.

And just to add on to my other questions....would any of you who have been there during theses times say that there are any negatives about it....I'm hearing good crowd news.....warm weather....possible hurricane time....but besides that....do you find that many of the rides are shut down because this is a down time during the year......(like for refurbishment)....I noticed that Splash Mountain is going down early January of 07 for like 20 days...so I'm hoping they wouldnt have to shut it down again when I go...that one is a must!!! Or if they don't have as many showings of parades or fireworks or fantasmic.....I just do not want to miss out on any of the Magic Disney has to offer. I have not been back since July '97; being I was there in July everything is at its max as far as attractions because of the high crowd attendance. Share with me any thoughts or tips you guys might have. It is not really an option to change the time in which I would be going so I just want to get some good vibes about it......

My father and I also went the last week of August/first week of September 2005, we did visit the Typhoon Lagoon waterpark one day, definately crowded but none of the waits were bad, as all the lines seemed to moved quickly, probably the longest we waited was 20 minutes, I was cold in the snorkel pool, b/c the water there is colder than the rest of the park for the fish and we went in right after the afternoon storm when it was still cloudy and a little breezy. But, that was the only time I was cold! When we got too tired of the humidity we went back to the hotel to the pool, or used the snack option on the free dining and sat down and had a popsicle or drink, or went to an indoor attraction, of which there are, thankfully, many except at AK. Have a great trip! :)

Most rehabs seem to be scheduled in January, but they do happen throughout the slower times for obvious reasons. I don't recall any of the major rides being down when I was there...

Park hours were a little shorter than during the main summer months, but because there are fewer people you'll have no problem getting done what you want.
