Getting ready for our trip to WDW and seeing that there are hardly any park reservations available, unless we want to go to Epcot. Neither Magic Kingdom nor Hollywood Studios is available at all next week. Animal Kingdom is only available a few days. Fortunately we made park reservations a while ago, but seeing this makes me wonder if the week will be busier than I'd originally thought. I remember being in DHS one day last year when. supposedly, the park reservation system said it was available for more, but it was packed! Can anyone calm my fears a little, or am I right to expect lots of crowds?

Well I mean WDW is always crowded now, even during the typical "slow" periods. I'm going the week after you and I see limited park availability for certain days despite that week being slower than spring break. I'm making up for a canceled 2020 trip and I assume a lot of people are doing the same.

As for next week, May 4th is Star Wars day so that's why HS is sold out. There's also a cheer competition from April 30th-May 1st and the D2 summit is May 6th-8th. Those cheerleading groups tend to arrive a few days early so that could definitely contribute to the crowd level.

I know some people planning to go to the cheer competition, they're definitely going to the parks, so yeah, there will be people.

I would expect it to be crowded. Theoretically, it should be less crowded as we get further away from easter and spring breaks but all bets are off. I use crowd calendars for planning based on special park events, hours, etc. and I noticed when we booked our MK day last week the crowd calendar was 5, the actual crowds the day we were there were an 8 per TP.

The park reservations have been sold out for a while for April, I'd pay it no mind and expect the worst and perhaps you'll be pleasantly surprised. Even when WDW is crowded, we always still have a great time.
