Crowded during Columbus Day week?

We are planning our trip to Disney for the week of 10/12-10/18. how are the crowds during that time?

I hear its "average" attendance, but most schools are in session that week ( minus Columbus Day), so I am hoping its not going to be too bad.

We went 2 years ago in mid September and it was PERFECT.... max line waiting times were 20 min TOPS. Should I not expect that this time around?

There is a thread on the Parks board right now about this. It seems most people say it's really busy.

We are going the week before (10/3-10/11), so I have no idea how crowded we will be.

The past few years we have gone the week preceeding Columbus Day and stayed through the holiday weekend. The parks were dead up to about Thursday and then you definitely saw very large crowds coming in for the weekend. It seems the week of Columbus Day itself tends to be more crowded that the week prior. We will be there the same time again this October.

Yes, we're going the 9th I think (calendar isn't in front of me...but I think that's it).

We'll be there the same week as well! crossing my fingers for low crowds and beautiful weather!

Our experience is that people usually make a week of it. I think a lot try to minimize time off from school for kids or time off from work. The crowds lessen slightly after the weekend, but not by a whole lot.
