Crowd prediction for Jan 4 - 6, 2008?

Any ideas how the crowds will be for Jan 4 - 6, 2008? DD and DSIL would like to see the X-mas decorations before they're removed. I'm guessing crazy!

I think it'll be VERY crowded! But if you know what to expect, and plan accordingly, I bet you'll be able to have a great time.

I want to add that I think Sunday, Jan 6th should be the best day. Everyone should be heading home that day since virtually every school in the country starts up again Monday, Jan 7th.

That sounds like a good idea. Sat will most likely still be crowded, but by Sunday there should be a marked difference in crowds (most likely a BIG check-out day for the hotels), and by late Sunday afternoon it should be very pleasant in the parks. Monday of course should also be very pleasant.

Sunday might be a great day to enjoy Fantasmic too. Less crowds to fight for a good spot.

i went on jan. 3 this year, and *boy* was it crowded!!
i'd say since you're gonna be there for a few days, pick certain rides/areas of the park each day that you want to experience, and focus on those. anything beyond that will feel like you got more done!

How odd. We went a couple of years ago - drove down on Jan 1, in the park the 2nd - 5th, and it was great! It rained at little one day, but being from a wet winter weather area, rain was tolerable for us. I did find that qestionable weather keeps many of the locals at home (our sis & bro in-law live 20 minutes from the parks, and clouds keep them at home).

I think the post new year's crowd depends on when during the week the holiday falls. When the 1st is mid-week, many get the week off (or long weekend before). I think I would risk it and go. Be prepared for cooler weather, and try it. It still won't be as bad as summer (or the day after Thanksgiving, or Veteran's Day, or New Year's Eve & Day).

Also, my youngest 2 start back to school on Jan. 3rd, so at least most of the crowd from our area of No. CA would be back at home. I just noticed we are from the same area. The middle and HS students go back on the 7th, but the year round start back on the 3rd.

Vanvmom - Hi Neighbor!

I think I've convince them to try going down on Sat or Sun and coming home Tues. That should give them a couple of good days.

DH & I might join them and do the Segway tour. We love the tour at Epcot and have wanted to try the tour at DCA. I think we'll fly down Sun and come home Tues.
