crowd levels late August?????

Greetings from the Month of May Tripppers. Now for the first time our WDW vacation will be next August 19th. Could anybody give me the scoop on crowds at that time. I read that late August might be good since the southern schools are back in session. I'm not planning on changing my dates, just want to know what to expect since the only time we ever expereinced serious crowds in May were coming back from MK at closing on a Saturday.(learned my lesson)

Our dates were 8/16-8/23. I was expecting smaller crowds based on what I had been told. But I think that the FTP this year gave a lot of people the motivation to get there during the summer. It was pretty crowded. And with all that rain we had it was really tough in the parks. When it rains and there is any threat of lightning a lot of the outside attractions are shut down. So, you have a mass of people, who can't get on say....BTMR, SplMt, Tom Sawyers Isl and they start looking for someplace else. That makes for a lot of folks queing up at Pirates or Buzz Lightyear!!! But....the rain was certainly not a normal, to be expected, afternoon shower. So that probably wouldn't happen again. And I don't know at this point what kind of packages Disney might offer for next summer. I do know that most of those that have visited at that time of year in the past have said that while it is very hot and humid, the crowds are very managable. So maybe next year it will be like that. You can hope!!!

I noticed you stayed at the Poly this year. What did you think? I'm eager for Poly opinions, because we are 90% sure we are staying garden concierge at Poly.
