Crowd levels - higher than in 2000?

I am curious how much the crowd levels have increased since the last time I went to WDW is 2000. I went during Oct and the crowd levels were great. I am going at another slow time of the year - early Dec. Do you think the crowds will be significantly worse than they were 6 years ago?

I dont know if it would significatly higher but attendance is def up post 9/11. Things were really slow there for a while but now I think attendance is at a peek. Early dec should still be one of the lower crowd levels though. The decorations are magical .. you will have a great time.

Early December really isn't that slow. :{

But it's not nearly as bad as late December.

As for your question, I'd wager they're about the same.

We have been taking out trips the beginning od Dec for the past years and I would say attendence is definitelly higher but not like it is on peak season. We used to wait 10 minutes for rides but now it seems to be like 20-30 minutes. Use the fast passes when available. This is a great time definitely puts us in the Holiday spirit. I was just there this past weekend and it seems so bare compared to the holiday season. So many more decorations!!!

Yes....Crowds are higher than 2000. WDW keeps getting more and more popular every year. Plus it seems more people have more money to play with. It seems to me that the middle class is slowly disappearing. There are the haves and the have nots!

Parks might be slightly more crowded than 2000...but not hugely (at least, I wouldn't think so). The parks were packed with record attendance levels in the late 90s and into 2000. 9/11 slowed things way down and only in the last few years have we been getting back to the pre 9/11 levels.

We've only been to WDW during peak times. We went in 2000 and 2003 during Thanksgiving and we went this year during spring break. The crowds were definately lighter in 2000 than in 2003 and 2006. Don't let it worry you too much though, if you plan well (and get up early) you can always outsmart the crowds!
