Crowd levels at parks for D23?

So, our short visit to DLR coincides with the return of D23 to Anaheim. We will be in the parks Aug 16/17.

Can we expect crowd levels to be insane? When does school start in SoCal? We have already prioritized our attraction list to emphasize thise that are substantially different or exclusive to DL compared to MK which we have been to numeroustimes in the past couple decades. Have not been to DLR since pre-DCA so pretty excited to get back there. Expecting the crowds to be very heavy but just wondering if we will need the body armor also

In the past, D23 has made little to no difference in park attendance. If you pay for D23 tickets, you go there. It's a very full schedule. It's still summer, so it will be crowded but not Christmas-week-crazy crowded.

The day likely to be most crowded will be August 17. And not because of D23 Expo but that will contribute. More so because of the lifting of the SoCal AP summer blockout on that day. See https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/?month=7.

Thanks for the tip, that's something us easterners don't typically have to plan around. We'll probably do DL on the 16th in that case, and DCA the 17th
